George E. Talley Sr.
HENDERSON—George Edgar Talley Sr., 85, of 980 N. Piney Grove Road, Manson, died Saturday, Sept. 28, 2013, at his home.
Born in Granville County, he was the son of the late William Gray and Sadie Thrift Talley. He was the widower of Dorothy Anne Snead Talley.
Mr. Talley was the former owner and operator of Golf Carts Unlimited and was a retired salesman for Caravan Bakery Products. He was a member of Middleburg United Methodist Church and the Henderson Masonic Lodge. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 1, 2013, in Middleburg United Methodist Church, conducted by Rev. Matt Robinson and Rev. D.L. Page Jr.
The burial, with Masonic Rites, will follow in New Hope Cemetery.
Surviving are a daughter, Rebecca T. Keith of Winston-Salem; three sons, George E. Talley Jr. and wife Kay of Raleigh, W. Lew Talley and wife Belinda of Wake Forest, and Mike Talley and wife Norma of Raleigh; two brothers, Bobby Talley and wife Martha, and Ronnie Talley and wife Ernestine, all of Oxford; nine grandchildren, Shane Talley, Gray Talley, Will Talley, Hope Talley, Summer Faircloth, Mitch Talley, Aaren Keith, Carter Keith and Bailey Keith; and two great- grandchildren, Spencer Faircloth and Dottie Faircloth; and his companion and friend, Beth Crews.
Serving as active pallbearers will be George Talley Jr., Shane Talley, Gray Talley, Lew Talley, Will Talley, Mike Talley, Mitch Talley and Carter Keith.
The family will receive friends Monday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Flowers Funeral Home.
At all other times, they will be at the home, 980 N. Piney Grove Road, Manson.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Middleburg United Methodist Church, c/o Ruby Atkins, Financial Secretary, PO Box 904, Middleburg, NC 27556.
