Rosa L. Allen
MT. VERNON, N.Y. — Rose Lou Allen, 83, formerly of Vance County, recently died.
She is survived by one brother, Loyal Allen of Silver Spring, Md.
Graveside services will be conducted Tuesday, April 30, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Concord Missionary Baptist Church Cemetery in Kittrell.
Funeral announcements are by Richardson Funeral Home of Louisburg.
Mabel B. Baines
HENDERSON — Mabel Frances Beal Baines, 79, of 2140 Farm St., Henderson, died Tuesday, April 23, 2013, at a local nursing home.
Born in Granville County, she was the daughter of the late Will Beal and Becky Dean Beal.
Baines was a retired employee of Comfo Hosiery Mill. She was a member of Tabbs Creek Baptist Church of Henderson.
Funeral services will be held Friday, April 26, 2013, at 10 a.m., at Flowers Funeral Chapel, conducted by the Rev. Aubrey Florence. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.
Surviving are her husband of 59 years, James LaCurtis Baines; two daughters, Sheila B. Roberts and Donna B. Glascock, both of Henderson; a son, James R. Baines of Henderson; a sister, Sarah B. Cutts of Creedmoor; five grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a son, Randy Lee Baines; two sisters, Lizzie B. Grissom and Bessie B. Hall; and a brother, Charlie Beal.
The family will receive friends today, from 7-8:30 p.m., at Flowers Funeral Home. All other times, they will be at the home.
Members of the Vance County Sheriff’s Department will serve as pallbearers.
Arrangements are by Flowers Funeral Home.
Lucy M. Davis
CHAPEL HILL — Lucy Mae Davis, 59, a resident of 411 W. Front St., Oxford, died Monday, April 22, 2013, at UNC Hospital in Chapel Hill.
She was a member of New Beginning Word Ministry.
Survivors include: two daughters, Mary D. Cates of Butner and Tonielle Curtis of the home; two sons, Lewis Davis of Henderson and Jonathan Davis of Oxford; two brothers, James E. Davis of Oxford and James T. Davis of Henderson; seven grandchildren; and three great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Sunday, April 28, 2013, at 2 p.m., in the Betts & Son Funeral Home Chapel, with a eulogy delivered by the Rev. Ronnie Green.
Interment will follow in the Union AME Zion Church Cemetery in Wilton.
A viewing will take place Saturday, April 27, 2013, from 11 a.m.-6 p.m., at the funeral home.
The family will receive friends at the residence.
Services are by Betts & Son Funeral Home in Oxford.

Lillie B. Henderson
RICHMOND, Va. — Lillie Bullock Henderson, 92, died Monday, April 22, 2013, in Richmond, Va.
Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Ammie Turner and Robert Bullock.
She joined Antioch Christian Church at an early age and was educated in the Vance County School System. She worked many years at New Hope Elementary School in the cafeteria. After retirement she moved to Richmond, Va., and joined Triumphant Baptist Church and remained an active member until her death.
Survivors include: one son, Amos Henderson Jr. of Newark, N.J.; two daughters, Lillie Alston of Columbus, Ohio, and Carolina Akins of Richmond, Va.; 27 grandchildren; and 45 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 29, 2013, at 1 p.m., at Triumphant Baptist Church, 2003 Lamb Ave., Richmond, Va. The family will receive friends Sunday, April 28, 2013, from 4-5 p.m., at Scott’s Funeral Home, 115 E. Brookland Park Blvd., Richmond, Va.
