John Monroe

MANSON — John Monroe, 79, of 1006 N. Piney Grove Road, died Saturday, June 28, 2014, at Maria Parham Medical Center.

He was born Nov. 23, 1934, in Bradenton, Florida. He was educated in Tampa, Florida, schools and later received an honorable discharge from the U.S. Navy.

He moved to D.C. in 1960 and worked with the D.C. Recorder of Deeds. He worked for the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency from 1970 until retirement.

A funeral service will be held at noon Thursday, July 3, at Guiding Star United Holy Church. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Viewing was from noon to 6 p.m. Wednesday, July 2, in the chapel of Davis-Royster Funeral Service.

Viewing will also be at the church prior to the service.

Survivors include his wife, Annie Williams Monroe; a son, Carlton Monroe (Andrea) of Pennsylvania; a daughter, Bridgette Seafus (Roger) of West Virginia; a grandson, Jared Seafus; a sister, Betty Wheeler (Al); and a mother-in-law, Fannie W. Bullock; along with other relatives.

In Lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to Guiding Star United Holy Church, P.O. Box 444, Manson.

The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church and other times at the residence.

Solomon Davis Jr.

WARRENTON — Solomon Davis Jr., 65, of 319 Axtell Ridgeway Road, died Saturday, June 28, 2014, at his residence.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. today, July 3, at Progressive Faith Baptist Church in Henderson. Burial will follow in the Davis Family Cemetery in Ridgeway.

Arrangements are by Boyd’s Funeral Services in Warrenton.

 

Helen K. Harris

HENDERSON — Helen Kelly Harris, 92, formerly of 517 Daniel St., died Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at Kindred Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

Arrangements will be announced by Davis-Royster Funeral Service.

 

Mary Marshall

HENDERSON — Mary Marshall, 93, of 117 Village Drive, died Wednesday, July 2, 2014, at her residence.

Robert C. Turner

MANSON — Robert C. Turner, 59, of 670 Johnnie Evans Road, died Sunday, June 29, 2014, at Maria Parham Medical Center.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 5, at St. Delight United Holy Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Viewing will be from noon to 6 p.m. Friday, July 4, in the chapel of Davis-Royster Funeral Service and at the church one hour prior to the service.

The family is receiving friends at the residence.
