Dera B. Estes
CREEDMOOR — Dera Lee Beck Estes, 84, a longtime resident of Sandy Plain, died Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Durham Regional Hospital.
A native of Wake County, she was the widow of Leon Estes and the daughter of the late Elmos and Mattie Holloway Beck. She was a member of Union Baptist Church and retired from Mt. Hope Finishing Company after 34 years of service.
Funeral services will be conducted today, at 2 p.m., in the Eakes Funeral Chapel in Creedmoor by the Rev. Dan Hill. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens in Creedmoor.
Survivors include: a daughter, Brenda C. Estes Davis of Stem; a granddaughter; and one great-granddaughter. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Kathy Webster; a sister, Shirley Lineberry; a twin sister, Vera Beck; and three brothers, Buck Red Beck, Maurice Beck and Bobby Beck.
Flowers will be accepted; or memorials can be made to Union Baptist Church, 4024 Old Weaver Trail, Creedmoor, NC 27522.
Visitation took place Monday, May 27, 2013, from 7 to 8 p.m. at the Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and at other times at the home.

Sarah H. Hale
LAWRENCEVILLE, Ga. — Sarah Hunt Hale, 82, formerly of Henderson, N.C., died Saturday, May 25, 2013, in Lawrenceville, Ga.
After 20 years employment in the office, Mrs. Hale was elected Vance County Register of Deeds in 1974 and served five consecutive terms until her retirement in 1994. She was a member of First Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 29, 2013, at 11 a.m., at First Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Ronald Cava. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens next to her beloved husband, Fred Lee Hale, who preceded her in death in 1987.
Surviving are her daughter, with whom she had made her home, Betty Leigh Hale Blakely and husband Robert of Lawrenceville, Ga.; her granddaughter, Sara Elizabeth Blakely; her grandson, Matthew William Blakely; and her brother-in-law, Davis R. Hale Jr. and wife Ruth.
The family will receive friends Tuesday from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Flowers Funeral Home. All other times, they will be at the home of Davis and Ruth Hale, 1841 N. Garnett Street, Henderson.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Danny Hughes, Jeffrey R. Hale, Stacey Hale, Joel Duke, Tony Hughes and Jerry Ayscue. Members of the Vance County Bar Association and the employees of the Vance County Courthouse will serve as honorary pallbearers.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Vance County Chapter of the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 914, Henderson, NC, 27536.

Donald Y. Hoyle Jr.
HENDERSON — Donald Yates “Donnie” Hoyle Jr., 74, of 5632 N.C. 39 South, Henderson, N.C., went home to be with the Lord Saturday, May 25, 2013, at his home.
Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late D.Y. Hoyle and Shirley Greenway Hoyle.
Mr. Hoyle was a former Candy Production Manager for 35 years prior to founding Hoyle’s Tire & Axle Inc. After returning to Henderson in 1987, he became an active member of New Sandy Creek Baptist Church. He was a dedicated supporter of the Henderson Lions Club, youth athletics, dirt track racing and the McDonald’s Social Club. He was a true family man who took pride in strong work ethic.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 28, 2013, at 11 a.m., at New Sandy Creek Baptist Church, conducted by the Rev. Timothy J. Burgess. Burial will follow in the Hoyle Family Cemetery.
Surviving, all of Henderson, are his wife of 38 years, Peggy Edwards Hoyle; three daughters, Nickie H. Munn, Hope H. Howard and Brenda S. Coker; four sons, Donald Y. Hoyle III, Toby E. Hoyle, Malcolm L. Sanford and Curtis E. Sanford; a sister, Linda H. Hayes; two brothers, Jimmy W. Hoyle and Andy L. Hoyle; 15 grandchildren, Dylan Hoyle, Kathryn Coghill, Kaylan Hoyle, Ava Howard, Carly Howard, Christopher Sanford, Amanda Gilleland, Bryant Coker, Jenny Owen, Calvin Sanford, Jennifer Spain, Kyle Lawson, Stephanie Haines, Chris Munn and Justin Munn; and five great-grandchildren.
The family will receive friends at the home, 5632 N.C. 39 South, Henderson.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Thomas N. Lassiter, Allen “Bean” Woodlief, Robert A. Crews Sr., Kevin Combs, Javier Llanas, Sandro Sanchez, Brandon Parks and Craig Edwards.

Willie P. Hope Jr.
HENDERSON — Willie Pettigrew “June” Hope, Jr., a resident of 8926 N.C. 39 North, died Monday, May 27, 2013, at Duke University Medical Center.
Funeral services will be held Thursday at 3 p.m. in the J.M. White Funeral Home Chapel. The family will receive friends Wednesday from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at the J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home.
Other arrangements will be announced by J. M. White Funeral Home.
Kenneth R. Riggan
HENDERSON — Kenneth Rollins Riggan, age 77, a resident of 196 Cokesbury Court, died Saturday, May 25, 2013, at Maria Parham Medical Center. Born in Vance County on Feb. 14, 1936, he was the son of the late Haywood L. Riggan and Lessie Currin Riggan.
He was retired from the U.S. Army and was a member of the Army Reserve and National Guard for more than 20 years. He was a member of Forest Hills Baptist Church.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 2 p.m. in the J.M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Ronnie Matthews. Burial with military honors will follow in Sunset Gardens.
He is survived by two sisters, Dottie Satterfield and Mae Abbott, both of Henderson; two step-sons, Bryan K. Bartlett and Bobby Bartlett both of Virginia; one step-daughter, Peggy B. Gregory of Virginia; their mother, Nancy R. Riggan of Virginia; three step-granddaughters; four nieces and five nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one sister, Shirley Hunt.
The family will receive friends Tuesday night from 7 until 8:30 p.m. at J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of Mae and Furman Abbott at 245 Kemps Lane, off Stewart Farm Road.
Serving as active pallbearers will be Robbie Ayscue, Millard T. Abbott, Dennis Currin, Jay Causey, Jonathan Matthews and Joshua Matthews. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be members of Forest Hills Baptist Church.
