Alan S. Finlayson
HENDERSON — Alan Stanton Finlayson, 31, of 1972 South Lake Lodge Road, Henderson, passed away Sunday, May 19, 2013, at Hospice at the Meadowlands in Hillsborough after a long battle with cancer.
Born Aug. 31, 1981, in Boynton Beach, Fla., Alan spent his youth in Delray Beach, Fla., relocating to Henderson in 1996. He attended Vance-Granville Community College and later obtained his Commercial Driver’s License with additional certifications. He enjoyed driving long distance and locally until his illness. He loved animals, cars and his family. Being a very private person, he was brave in his fight against cancer and left us in dignity and peace. He will be greatly missed for his wisdom, humor and spirited argumentative discourse.
Alan is survived by his mother, Donna Parham Diemer, and step-father, Frank Diemer of Henderson; his father, Andrew C. Finlayson, and step-mother, Cynthia Finlayson of Delray Beach, Fla.; his grandmother, Carolyn Stanton Parham of Wellington, Fla.; his great-aunt, Peggy J. Stanton of Henderson; his uncle, Bobby Parham Jr. of Henderson; his aunts, Beverly Colmant and husband, Clay, of Newberry, Fla., and Angela Hartwell and husband, Rick, of Wellington, Fla.; and his cousins, Kristina Hisey of Port St. Lucie, Fla., Ariana Hartwell of Wellington, Fla., and Stanton T. Parham of Henderson. He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Bobby Parham Sr.; and his beloved American bulldog, Capone.
A private memorial service for his immediate family is to be held Friday, May 24, 2013. The family will receive friends and extended family at the home of Peggy Stanton, 1972 South Lake Lodge Road, Henderson, on Friday, May 24, 2013, from 5-8 p.m.
Memorial donations may be made in Alan’s name to Love Mutts Rescue, c/o Marli Midyette, 127 Apple Tree Lane, Manson, NC 27553.

OXFORD — Bernice ”Dodie” Arrington, 79, a resident of 7529 Sam Young Road, Oxford, died Monday, May 21, 2013, at Granville Medical Center in Oxford.
Funeral arrangements will be announced later by Betts and Son Funeral Home in Oxford.
Katie S. Bullock
HENDERSON — Katie Small Bullock, 99, of 981 Tungsten Mine Road, Henderson, died Friday, May 17, 2013, at Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson.
Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Frank Scoll and Annie Hargrove Small.
She joined Antioch Church of Christ (now Antioch United Church of Christ) at a very early age.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 23, 2013, at 1 p.m., at Antioch United Church of Christ by the Rev. Kevin Langley. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include: two sons, Frank Bullock and Burndell Bullock, both of the home; two daughters, Annie Evans of Townsville and Joyce St. John of Virginia; 88 grandchildren; and numerous great- and great-great-grandchildren.
The family is receiving friends at the residence of Annie Evans, 147 Keeton Road, Townsville. The body will be on view at the funeral home today, from 11 a.m.-6 p.m., and at the church one hour before the service.

Carolyn E. Currin
HENDERSON — Carolyn Elaine Roberson Currin, 59, a resident of 1245 Park Ave., Henderson, died Monday, May 20, 2013, at Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson.
Born on July 28, 1953, in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late Robert Jones Roberson and Katie Ann Seamster Roberson. She formerly worked as a cashier at Food Lion, was a member of Crystal River Church of God and Sanctuary Sunday School Class.
A graveside funeral service will be held Thursday, May 23, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Sunset Gardens by the Rev. Charles Anderson.
She is survived by three sons, Lawrence Edward Currin Jr., Jonathan Robert Currin and Bryan Thomas Currin, all of Henderson; a brother, Jerry Roberson of Henderson; a sister, Shirley Roberson Hicks of Newport News, Va.; and her grandchildren.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Lawrence Edward Currin Sr.; a son, Gary Edward Currin; a sister, Nancy Roberson Tucker; a brother, Jimmy Roberson; and a grandson.
The family will receive friends following the service at Sunset Gardens.

LITTLETON — Rosemary Harrison, 53, of Littleton, died Friday, May 17, 2013, at her residence.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 23, 2013, at 1 p.m., at Oak Grove Baptist Church in Littleton. Dr. Patrick Wooden will officiate and burial will follow at Pine Grove Baptist Church Cemetery in Macon.
Survivors include her parents, Gillis Harrison of Littleton; and three sisters, Gilda Harrison of Charlotte, Cheryl Harrison of Richmond, Va., and Pamela Harrison of Rock Hill, S.C.
The body will be on view today, from 11 a.m.-7 p.m., at Boyd’s Funeral Services Chapel in Warrenton.

Jacqueline B. Hunt-Campbell
WASHINGTON, D.C. — Jacqueline Bernetta Hunt-Campbell, 71, a resident of 20 Galveston Place, Washington, D.C., died Tuesday, May 14, 2013, at the Medstar Washington Hospital Center.
She was the daughter of the late Nathaniel Hunt and Mary E.Thomas Hunt.
She was a 1959 graduate of Mary Potter High School and was a member of the National Mary Potter. She attended Elizabeth City State University.
Survivors include: her son, Larry Campbell of Portsmouth, Va.; daughters, Jacqueline Renee Campbell of Forestville, Md., and Michelle Campbell of Crosby, Texas; and several grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, May 23, 2013, at 1 p.m., at First Baptist Church by the Rev. Lacy Joyner. Burial will follow in the Meadowview Memorial Park.
The family will receive visitors today, from 7-8 p.m., at Betts and Son Funeral Home in Oxford.
Benjamin A. Williams
MACON — Benjamin A. Williams, 55, of 934 N.C. 43 in Macon, died Friday, May 17, 2013, at WakeMed in Raleigh.
Funeral services will be conducted today, May 22, 2013, at 1 p.m., at Shiloh Baptist Church in Arcola. The Rev. Kenneth Richardson Sr., pastor, will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include three daughters, Shahai and La’Sandra, both of Littleton, and Diamond of Hollister; three grandchildren; his mother, Irene Alston of the home; five brothers, Roy, Gary, Chris, Wayne and Haywood; and one sister, Brenda.
The family received relatives and friends Tuesday, May 21, 2013, from 6-7:30 p.m., at Boyd’s Funeral Services Chapel in Warrenton.
