HENDERSON — Katie Small Bullock, 99, of 981 Tungsten Mine Road, Henderson, died Friday, May 17, 2013, at Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson.

The family will receive friends at 147 Keeton Road, Henderson.

WARRENTON — Alfred Davis, 96, of 216 East Bute St., Warrenton, died at his home May 17, 2013.

LOUISBURG — Wayne Hogwood, 60, of Louisburg, died Sunday, May, 12, 2013, in Louisburg.

There will be a private burial Sunday, May 19, 2013, at 3 p.m., in Louisburg (location to be determined).

Matthew Jiggetts

HENDERSON — Matthew Jiggetts, 60, of 332 Keene St., Henderson, died Monday, May 13, 2013, at his residence.

Memorial services will be conducted Sunday, May 19, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Boyd’s Funeral Services Chapel in Warrenton. The Rev. Don Stith will officiate.

Survivors include: his mother, Lizzie Jiggetts of Warrenton; two daughters, Latasha Jiggetts of New Jersey and Amber Jiggetts of Georgia; one son, TaMorris Jiggetts of New Jersey; six grandchildren; one brother, John Jiggetts of Drewry.

Professional services are by Boyd’s Funeral Services in Warrenton.


Estelle V. Mitchell

HENDERSON — Estelle Vaughan Mitchell, 89, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Franklin Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Louisburg.

Born on April 19, 1924, in Granville County, she was daughter of the late Ed Vaughan and Zaripha Peace Vaughan.

At an early age, Mitchell joined Ilong Baptist Church in Kittrell and received her early education at Cedar Grove School.

She married Vernon Mitchell Sr. in December of 1944, and after marriage she joined Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, where she was an active member until her health declined. She served on the usher board, senior choir and missionary board.

In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by: her son, Willie Edward Mitchell; and two sisters, Mabel Cheatham and Dorothy Vaughan.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 20, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Mt. Olive Missionary Baptist Church, with Pastor Melvin Solomon officiating. Interment will follow in Ilong Baptist Church Cemetery in Kittrell.

Survivors include one son, Vernon Junior Mitchell of Louisburg; one daughter, Ella Wilson of Winston-Salem; 11 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandson.

A viewing will take place Sunday, May 19, 2013, from noon-5 p.m., at the funeral home and at the church one hour prior to the service.

The family is receiving friends at the home of Vernon Mitchell, 1439 Rocky Ford Road, Louisburg.

James M. Riley

CREEDMOOR — James Michael “Mike” Riley, 57, a longtime resident of Granville County, died Thursday, May 16, 2013, at his home.

A native of Granville County, he was the son of Clarence W. Riley and the late Marie Cox Riley. He was a member of Tally Ho First Baptist Church and worked in the flooring business for many years.

Graveside funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 20, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Tally Ho First Baptist Church by the Rev. Jim Smith.

Survivors include: his father, Clarence W. Riley of the home. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ronnie Riley.

Flowers are accepted or contributions may be made to Concord Baptist Church “Bus Fund”, 2509 Lyon Station Road, Creedmoor, NC 27522.

Visitation will follow the graveside service and at other times at the home.
