Mary T. Huff

OXFORD — Mary Alice Thaxton Huff, 71, a lifetime resident of Granville County, passed away Monday, May 13, 2013, at Rex Hospital in Raleigh. 

She was a native of Granville County, the daughter of the late Clarence Clyde and Elsie Gray Thomas Thaxton. She was a member of Providence Baptist Church and retired after 31 years of service with Northern Telecom in Creedmoor. She was a devoted wife, mother and “NaNa” to all her grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., today, in the Eakes Funeral Chapel in Oxford by the Rev. Frank Sossamon and the Rev. Sam Brewer. Burial will be in Providence Baptist Church Cemetery.

Surviving are her husband of 48 years, Alfred Ray Huff of the home; two daughters, Sandra K. Currin (Ronnie) of Henderson and Brenda F. Faucette of Bullock; two granddaughters, Marie D. Adcock and Monica Jane Faucette; three grandsons, Jonathan B. Pulley, Adam T. Pulley and Matt B. Faucette; a special nephew, Keith Huff; and her loving dog, Angel. She was preceded in death by a son, Willie Winston Henley Jr.

Flowers are accepted or memorials may be made to Granville County Animal Shelter, 5650 Cornwall Road, Oxford, NC 27565.

Visitation will be held today, from noon-1:45 p.m., prior to the funeral, at the Eakes Funeral Home in Oxford and at other times at the home.

Milo Alexander

WISE — Milo Alexander, 90, of Wise, died Monday, May 13, 2013, at Warren Hills Nursing Facility in Warrenton.

Funeral arrangements are incomplete at this time but will be announced later by Boyd’s Funeral Services in Warrenton.


Annie M. Clark

OXFORD — Annie Mae Clark, 91, died Tuesday, May 14, 2013.

She was the daughter of the late Graham B. and Ruby Hart Currin and the widow of Hammie B. Clark. She was a retired LPN at Granville Hospital and Murdock Center in Butner, a member of Oxford Baptist Church, and was active in Women on Missions and Meals on Wheels.

Funeral services will be conducted Friday, May 17, 2013, at 11 a.m., at Oxford Baptist Church, by Dr. J Steven Bolton. Burial will follow in Nelson Baptist Church Cemetery, Nelson, Va.

Survivors include: four grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; and her sister, Lelia C. Blackwell of Oxford.

She was predeceased by three brothers, Graham Currin, Buster Currin and Hillman Currin; and two sisters, Thelma Hughes and Elizabeth Wilkinson.

Memorials may be made to Oxford Baptist Church, PO Box 398, Oxford, NC 27565.  

The family will receive friends Friday, May, 17, 2013, from 9:30-11 a.m., in the church living center.

Matthew Jiggetts

Henderson — Matthew Jiggetts, 60, of 332 Keene St., Henderson, died Monday, May 13, 2013, at his residence.

Estelle V. Mitchell

LOUISBURG — Estelle Vaughan Mitchell, 89, a resident of Franklin Oaks Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Louisburg, died Wednesday, May 15, 2013.

The family will receive friends at the home of Vernon Mitchell, 1439 Rocky Ford Road, Louisburg.

Arrangements will be announced by Davis-Royster Funeral Service.


Michael A. Wilson

OXFORD — Michael Anthony Wilson, 54, a resident of 6673 Cornwall Road, Oxford, died Monday, May 14, 2013, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

He attended Granville County Schools and was employed with RFR Metal Fabrication.

Survivors include: his wife, Rosa Wilson of the home; one son, Jeffery Harris of the home; one daughter, Shennette Harris of Richmond, Va.; one brother, Charles Wilson of Butner; four sisters, Ludulia Wilson of Irvington, N.J., Joyce Williams of Oxford, Deloris Bailey of Nazareth, Pa., and Rosa Hudson of Durham; and four grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, May 18, 2013, at 1 p.m., in the Betts & Son Funeral Home Chapel with a eulogy by the Rev. Michael Hamlin.

Viewing will take place Friday, May 17, 2013, from 11 a.m.-6 p.m., at the Funeral Home.

The family will receive friends at the home.
