Alliebeth H. Towns

HENDERSON — Alliebeth Henderson Towns, 99, of Jacksontown Road, died Monday, Sept. 2, 2013, at Kerr Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

She was born March 30, 1914, in Vance County to the late Elizabeth Henderson.

She was raised by her aunt, Nanny Henderson, and uncle, Mack Henderson Sr.

At an early age she joined Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church, where she was a faithful member until her health declined.

She was united in holy matrimony to the late Sidney Townes Sr.

Surviving are one son, Sidney Townes of Manson; eight daughters, Elizabeth Bullock (Robert) of Henderson, Alliebeth Dortch (Clarence) of Richmond, Va., Nannie Marie Terry of Richmond, Va., Annie Mae Townes of Boston, Lou Helen Charley (Sylvester) of Boston, Shirley T. Hazard of Manson, Delores Love (Leroy) of Richmond, Va., and Doreatha Jones (Mario) of Richmond, Va.; 25 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and 16 great-great grandchildren.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday at Mt. Pleasant Missionary Baptist Church with Dr. Richard Henderson officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The body will be on view from noon to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and at the church one hour prior to the service.

Timothy D. Edwards

HENDERSON — Timothy Dwayne Edwards, 49, of 62 South Hacienda Lane, died Thursday, Sept. 5, 2013, at his home.

Born in Vance County on March 3, 1964, he was the son of the late Jasper Thomas Edwards Sr. and Ruby Culbert Edwards.

He worked in construction as a brick mason.

He is survived by a daughter, Lacey Jo Edwards of the home; a son, Jasper Dwayne Edwards of Oxford; a granddaughter, Lexi Edwards of Oxford; and three brothers, Jasper Thomas Edwards Jr. of Winston-Salem, Guy Edwards of Lexington and Tony Edwards of Florida.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Monday in the J.M. White Funeral Home Chapel conducted by Rev. Jeff Prewer.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. prior to the service at J.M. White Funeral Home and at other times at the home of Jackie Neal and Jasper Edwards, 8285 Hicksboro Road, Oxford.

The family wishes to express special thanks to Jenny Harris of Henderson, who was a mother figure to Mr. Edwards.

HENDERSON — Christine Brodie Davis, 80, of 224 Regina Lane, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at her residence.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday at United Prayer of Faith Holiness Church with interment to follow in Blacknall Cemetery.

The body will be on view from noon to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and at the church one hour prior to the service.

OXFORD — Jonathan William Rucker, 44, of 100 Pine Tree Road, died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at Wake Medical Center.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at Kingdom Hall of Jehovah’s Witnesses in Henderson.

HENDERSON — Romeo Taylor Jr., 81, of 2715 Thomas Road, died Saturday, Aug. 31, 2013, at the Durham VA Medical Center.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Saturday at Flat Creek Baptist Church with William Everett officiating. Interment will follow at Quantico National Cemetery in Triangle, Va.

The body will be on view from noon to 6 p.m. Friday at the funeral home and at the church one hour prior to the service.

HENDERSON — Irene Williams, 82, of 195 Lincoln Ave., died Sunday, Sept. 1, 2013, at her residence.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 7, 2013, at Progressive Faith Baptist Church with Rev. Fearldine Simmons officiating and a eulogy by Rev. William Clayton. Interment will follow in Sunset Gardens.

The body will be on view Friday from 2 to 8 p.m. at E.C. Terry’s Funeral Chapel and at the church one hour prior to the service.
