Michelle D. Williams

HENDERSON — Michelle Leigh Davis Williams, age 37, a resident of 146 Dorsey Place, died Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Maria Parham Medical Center.

Born in Vance County on Nov. 1, 1976, she was the daughter of Janet Abbott Davis of Henderson and the late Clarence Brooks Davis.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 10, at 11 a.m. at South Henderson Pentecostal Holiness Church by the Rev. Frank Sossamon and the Rev. Jay Weaver. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.

In addition to her mother, she is survived by one daughter, Abigail Williams of Morganton; one son, Ryan Williams of Morganton; and a special friend, William David Hoyle Jr. of Henderson.

The family will receive friends Wednesday night, July 9, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times, they will be at the home, at 146 Dorsey Place.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Ray Patrick, Curtis Tippett, Kevin Reynolds, Dennis Powers, Cecil Davis, Ricky Abbott and Larry Brame.

Rita O. Walker

HENDERSON — Rita Helena Oxendine Walker, age 63, passed away Sunday, July 6, 2014, at Duke Regional Hospital in Durham.

Born December 5, 1950, in Fairmont, she was the daughter of the late James Oxendine and Bernice Morgan Oxendine.

Funeral services will be conducted by the Rev. Frank Sossamon on Wednesday, July 9, at 10 a.m. in the chapel of J.M. White Funeral Home. Burial will follow at 4:30 p.m. at Lumbee Memorial Gardens in Lumberton.

She is survived by four daughters, Natalie Van Epps and husband Rob of Davidson, Celena Carter and husband Bobby of Hickory, Angie Boyd and husband Glenn of Henderson, and Denise Smith and husband Sam of Laurinburg; a brother, Randy Oxendine and wife Darlynn of Henderson; a sister, Roxie Walker of Charlotte; and, most dear to her heart, 10 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one granddaughter and one great-granddaughter.

The family will receive friends after the service at J.M. White Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting that donations be made to the American Diabetes Association in her memory at diabetes.org.

HENDERSON — Anita Markham Carroll, 76, died Thursday, July 3, 2014.

Arrangements are by Cremation Society of the Carolinas.

HENDERSON — Robert Crews, 84, of Green Bullock Assisted Living Center, died Friday, July 4, 2014, at Maria Parham Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, July 9, in the chapel of Davis-Royster Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Blacknall Cemetery.

Viewing will be today from 3 to 6 p.m. in the funeral home chapel.

Margaret H. Williams

OXFORD — Margaret H. Williams, 90, died Saturday, July 5, 2014, at Universal Health Care.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, July 9, in the chapel of Gentry-Newell & Vaughann Funeral Home by the Rev. Johnny Richards, the Rev. James C. Shelley Jr. and the Rev. Steve Brown. Burial will be in the Mt. Creek Baptist Church Cemetery.

Flowers are accepted, or memorials may be made to the Mt. Creek Baptist Church, c/o Gilbert Wilson, 1716 Sam Blackwell Road, Oxford, NC 27565.

Visitation is tonight, July 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home.
