Doris W. McGhee
HENDERSON — Doris Rene West McGhee, 85, of 2065 Rock Mill Road, Henderson, died Thursday, May 8, 2014, in Duke Regional Hospital in Durham.
Born in Vance County, she was the daughter of the late John Washington and Irene Ayscue West. Mrs. McGhee was a retired employee of Pacific Coast Feathers Inc. She was a former member of Free Will Gospel Holiness Church. Mrs. McGhee loved bluegrass music and played guitar in several bands in the surrounding area. She was well loved by her family, friends, neighbors and coworkers.
Graveside funeral services will be held Saturday, May 10, 2014, at 2 p.m. at the Finch Family Cemetery, conducted by the Rev. Calvin Mills.
Surviving are her husband, Edmund Alexander “E.A.” McGhee; four daughters, Linda K. Woodruff and husband Tommy of Knightdale, Marie M. Thomas and husband Wade of Oxford, Fern M. Beane of Wendell and Wanda M. Fuller and husband Steve of Henderson; six grandchildren, Alec Woodruff and wife Misty, Angie Pridgen, Shannon Hill, Elliott Fuller and wife Lauren, Eric Woodruff and Justin Woodruff and wife Allison; six great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Lottie Mae Stainback and Pauline Robertson, and a brother, Henry Lee West.
The family will receive friends at the home of Wanda and Steve Fuller, 25 Franklin Road, Henderson.

WARRENTON — Mary E. Jefferson, 79, died Saturday, May 3, 2014, at Universal Healthcare in Oxford.
A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 10, at Mt. Pleasant Baptist Church in Manson by the Rev. Richard Henderson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Viewing will be today, May 9, from 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. in the chapel of Boyd’s Funeral Services in Warrenton.
