Hurley W. Evans

WARRENTON — Hurley Woodrow Evans, 50, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, at Maria Parham Medical Center.

Born in Warren County, he was the son of Woodrow W. Evans and Annie Pitchford Evans. Mr. Evans was a chip mill technician with International Paper Co. He was a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps and a member the Vicksboro Hunt Club, the N.C. Turkey Federation, the Afton-Elbron Fire Department and the Shocco Creek Coon Club.

Mr. Evans was a member of Reedy Creek Baptist Church, where Rev. Seth Miller and Rev. Richard Smith will conduct funeral services on Friday, Feb. 28, at 2 p.m. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife, Cathy Pitzing Evans; one sister, Anita E. Hendrick and husband Tim of Charlotte; his step-daughter, Crystal Adcock; two nephews, Josh Janolis of Franklinton and Bradley Pitzing of Warrenton; two nieces, Kassey Pitzing and Brittany Pitzing, both of Warrenton; and two special friends, Herman Collier and Leon Short, both of Warrenton.

Flowers are accepted, or memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

The family will receive friends Thursday evening, Feb. 27, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Blaylock Funeral Home.

Barbara E. Sutton

MACON — Barbara Ellis Sutton, 84, died Monday, Feb. 24, 2014, in South Hill, Va.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today, Feb. 27, at Blaylock Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Greenwood Cemetery in Macon.

The family will receive friends for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
