LaVerne Richardson-Daniels

ESSEX, England — LaVerne Richardson-Daniels, age 54, departed this life on Wednesday, Feb. 5, 2014, at her residence in Essex, England.

She was born in New York City on Nov. 2, 1959, to the late David Richardson and Arline Richardson of Henderson, N.C.

She was educated in the New York City public school system and graduated from Herbert Lehman High School in 1976. She held various clerical jobs before moving to England in 1983. There, she worked as a settlements clerk in various financial institutions before declining in health. On her frequent months-long visits to Henderson, she attended Concord Missionary Baptist Church in Kittrell, N.C.

LaVerne was preceded in death by her father, David Richardson.

She is survived by her loving husband, John Daniels of Essex, England; her son, David Thomas Richardson-Geehan of Essex, England; her son, Kieran James Richardson-Geehan of Williamsburg, Va.; her mother, Arline Richardson of Henderson, N.C.; a sister, Valerie-Jayne Davis and husband Gus of Queens, New York; two cousins, Stephanie Watson and husband John and Frank Kearney of Kittrell, N.C.; a nephew, Justin Marshall of Queens, New York; and a host of other family members, friends and acquaintances.

Funeral arrangements are not yet certain at this time, but a memorial service will be held later at her mother’s residence, 1614 Peace Street, Henderson.

The family asks that any memorials be made to ACTS (Area Christians Together in Service), 305 South Chestnut Street, Henderson, NC 27536.

Mary K. Faucette

HENDERSON — Mary Joan “Joanne” Knight Faucette, age 81, a resident of 1245 Park Ave., died Sunday, February 9, 2014, at Maria Parham Medical Center.

Born on Feb. 13, 1932, in Vance County she was the daughter of the late Lawrence Albert Knight Sr. and Mary Helen Lane Knight.

She was retired from the former Lauren’s Glass Company and a member of Mt. Carmel United Methodist Church.

Graveside funeral services will be held today at 2 p.m. by Rev. Johnny Yount at Sunset Gardens.

Mrs. Faucette is survived by three sisters, Betty Knight Jones of Henderson, Priscilla Knight Butler and husband Bruce of Fayetteville and Carolyn Knight Johnson of Durham; one brother, Mickey Knight of Henderson; many nieces and nephews; her faithful companion, “Tea Cup”; and her special care givers and many friends at Kerr Lake Rehab Center.

She was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence Albert Knight Jr. and Bobby Lane Knight; and her beloved niece, Renee Victoria Jones.

The family will receive friends following the service at Sunset Gardens. At other times they will be at the home of Betty Knight Jones, 1207 Parham Street, Henderson, 27536.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Mt. Carmel UMC Ladies Group, c/o Maria Ellis, 218 Garrett Rd., Henderson, NC 27537.

Barbara Hill

HENDERSON — Barbara Hill, 61, of 1314 South Chestnut Street, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at Maria Parham Medical Center.

The family will receive friends at the residence.

Arrangements will be announced by E.C. Terry’s Funeral and Cremation Service.

Mary G. Reinitz

OXFORD — Mrs. Mary “Peggy” Gray Reinitz, 83, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 11, at Oxford Baptist Church by Rev. Robert Garrett and Rev. Chris Aho. Private interment will be held at a later date.

Visitation will take place immediately after the service in the family center at the church.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Music Ministry of Oxford Baptist Church, PO Box 398, Oxford, NC 27565.

Edna P. Thomasson

OXFORD — Edna Mae Parham Thomasson, 84, died Saturday, Feb. 8, 2014, at her residence.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. today, Feb. 11, at Peace’s Chapel Baptist Church by Rev. Bruce Brooks and Rev. Jason Thornton. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.
