Talton T. Hughes
OXFORD — Talton Thomas “T.” Hughes, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, in Granville House in Oxford.
He was born Aug. 18, 1928, in Oxford, to the late Talton Thomas Hughes Sr. and Loyd Dickerson Hughes.
He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Ursula Frazier Hughes; son, David Talton Hughes (Shawn); and a sister Marilyn Hughes Logan (Richard) of Oxford. He had many special nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.
Mr. Hughes was a graduate of Oxford High School, and attended East Carolina Teachers College (now East Carolina University) and N.C. State University. While at NCSU, he was a member of the marching band. Mr. Hughes proudly served his country during the Korean War in the U.S. Army.
Mr. Hughes retired from Harriett-Henderson Yarns in Henderson. He was a member of Hester Baptist Church and was part of its first men’s quartet, and was a member of the Kerr Lake Ensemble. He was a member of a Granville County fast pitch softball team as a pitcher and was an avid golfer.
Funeral services will be conducted today at the Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Chapel at 3 p.m. by the Rev. Pat Cox. Burial will be in Elmwood Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 2-3 p.m. prior to the services today. At other times they will be at the home of David and Shawn Hughes.

MANSON — Thomas Bullock, 84, of 688 Manson Drewry Road in Manson, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, at Granville Health Systems in Oxford.
Funeral services are incomplete at this time, but will be announced later by Boyd’s Funeral Services in Warrenton.
Rosemary E. Crowell
OXFORD — Rosemary E. Crowell, 70, a former resident of 6106 Wild Cherry Lane, died Friday, March 29, 2013, at Croasdaile Village in Durham.
She was the daughter of the late Frederick P. Crowell and Berthenia Alexander Crowell.
She is survived by two sisters, Janice C. Bass of Oxford and Frederica Barrow of Laurel, Md.; and one brother, Munday Crowell of Temple Hills, Md.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at noon at Wright Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Harold F. Trice. Burial will be in Hillcrest Cemetery in Monroe.
A viewing will begin today, at 11 a.m.-6 p.m., at the funeral home.
Mildred R. Daniel
OXFORD — Mildred Register Daniel, 84, of 804 Fairway Drive, Oxford, died Saturday, March 30, 2013, at UNC Memorial Hospital.
Daniel was born May 8, 1928, to Clyde Carl Register and Lessie Roberson Register of Henderson. She retired in 1995 from Daniel’s Army Surplus of Butner.
She is survived by her three children, Kathryn Daniel Bradley of Oxford, James P. Daniel of Butner and Jeffery M. Daniel of Apex; four grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two sisters, Margaret R. Beck and Joyce R. Ashcraft of Greenville, S.C.; and a brother, Thomas E. Register of Pinehurst.
Visitation will be held today, from 12:30-1:30 p.m., at Eakes Funeral Home, Clement Avenue, Oxford. A graveside service will follow at 2 p.m. at Elmwood Cemetery in Oxford. Flowers are acceptable or memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.

HENDERSON — Alma Harris, 78, of Henderson, (formerly of Warren County) died Wednesday, March 27, 2013, at Kerr Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center in Henderson.
Funeral services will be conducted Thursday, April 4, 2013, at 2 p.m., at New Bethel Baptist Church in Macon. The Rev. Edward Harrington will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include: two daughters, Bettie Cooke of the home and Arlene Harrington of Wise; two sons, Mack Harris of Norlina and John Harris of Greensboro; seven grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; three sisters, Bettie Jiggetts of Norlina, Mattie Taylor of Denver, Pa., and Ella Taylor of Greensboro; and three brothers, Freddie Burton of Henderson, Malvin Burton of Brooklyn, N.Y., and Percy Burton of Baltimore, Md.
The body will be on view Wednesday, April 3, 2013, from 11 a.m.-7 p.m., at Boyd’s Funeral Services Chapel in Warrenton.

Thomas N. Hunt
OXFORD — Thomas Noblin “Foot” Hunt, 70, a resident of 108 Palmer Court, Oxford, died Thursday, March 28, 2013, in the Durham Regional Hospital.
He was the son of the late Thomas Hunt and Lilia Allen Hunt.
Hunt was a Granville County native and was a member of the Oak Grove Baptist Church, where he was a member of the Gospel choir, senior choir and male chorus. He was employed at D.B. Williams Construction Company for over 40 years.
Survivors include: his wife, Betty Hunt; four sons, Ray Burton and Curtis Hunt, both of Henderson, Gary Hunt of Oxford, Jerry Burton of Alexandria, Va., four daughters; Vivian Person of Enfield, Cathy Hunt of Raleigh, Brenda Hunt-Moore of Timberlake and Pamela Thorpe of Oxford; three brothers; Willie Lee Hunt, Jerry Thorpe and Coner Thorpe, all of Oxford; three sisters; Lila Mae Hargrove and Linda Thorpe, both of Oxford, and Carolyn Thorpe of Charlotte; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 3, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Oak Grove Baptist Church, with a eulogy delivered by the Rev. Ray Allsbury. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

WARRENTON — Bishop Dr. Robert Lee Perry Sr., 65, of Hempstead, N.Y., died Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Winthrop University Hospital in Long Island, N.Y.
Funeral Services will be conducted today, at 11 a.m., at Boyd’s Funeral Services Chapel in Warrenton. Dr. Marian J. Collier and Bishop Quarlie Jackson Sr. will officiate, and burial will follow at Coley Springs Missionary Baptist Church in Warrenton.
Survivors include: his wife, Evangelist Patricia A. Perry; two daughters, Chantelle B. Perry of Philadelphia, Pa., and Faith E. Perry-Manley of Greensboro, S.C.; three sons, Robert L. Perry Jr. of Henderson, Isaac T. Perry of Henderson and Michael L. Perry of Linden, N.J.; 13 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pastor Geraldine Perry-Jackson and Barbara A. Perry-Cooper; and five brothers, John Owen Perry, Amos Perry, Isaac Perry, James Perry, M.D., and Zollie Perry.

Bobby H. Richard
CREEDMOOR — Bobby Howard Richard, 73, a longtime resident of Granville County, died Saturday, March 30, 2013, at his home.
A native of Granville County, he was the son of the late Archie and Clellie Keith Richard. He was a member of McGhees Mill Baptist Church. He was formally employed with Duke golf course and a retired farmer.
Funeral services will be conducted Wednesday, April 3, 2013, 11 a.m., at the Eakes Funeral Chapel in Creedmoor by the Rev. Frankie Reaves. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens in Creedmoor.
Survivors include: his wife of 54 years, Daphine Jacobs Richard of the home; one daughter, Patsy R. Jones of Rougemont; a granddaughter; two sisters, Christine R. Ross and Betty Lou Ellington, both of Creedmoor; and three brothers, Donald Richard and Otis Richard, both of Creedmoor, and Harold Richard of Wake Forest. He was preceded in death by a son, Jimmy Richard; and brothers, Lester, Junior, Charlie and Ray Richard.

HENDERSON — Willie Henry Richardson, 59, a resident of 168 Elsie St. Henderson, died Sunday, March 31, 2013, in Raleigh.
