Parrie E. Alexander

WARREN COUNTY — Parrie Edward “Lil Boy” Alexander died Tuesday, March 26, 2013, at Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson.

Born Aug. 23, 1920, in Warren County, he was the son of the late Miles C. and Ellen Jones Alexander. He was educated in the Warren County Public School System, and attended Warren County Training School in Wise. Upon graduation, he enlisted in the U.S. Navy, and served in World War II from 1941-1946. He was employed for many years with Home Building Supply Company of Henderson
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by: his wife, Sophia Jones Alexander; his son, George Earl Alexander; a grandson; and two brothers, James Plummer Alexander and Mack Alexander.

Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, March 30, 2013, at 1 p.m., at Locust Grove Baptist Church in Wise. The Rev. Kenneth Alexander Jr., pastor, will deliver the eulogy. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Survivors include: three daughters, Florine Somerville of Macon, Linda Alexander Davis of the home and Margaret Alexander Lemay of Norlina; three sons: Herman Williams of Oxford, Parrie Edward Alexander Jr. of Landover, Md., and Joseph Miles Alexander of the home; 16 grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; five sisters, Cleo Harris and Naomi Johnson, both of Wise, and Mozell Hill, Margaret Crouch and Jaunita Jones, all of Toledo, Ohio; and two brothers, Milo Alexander of Wise and William Alexander of Toledo, Ohio.

A viewing was held Friday, March 29, 2013, from 1-7 p.m., in the R. H. Greene Funeral Home Chapel; a second viewing will take place at the church one hour prior to the service.

Billie W. Garner

DURHAM — Billie Frances Washington Garner, 92, a longtime resident of Durham, Friday, March 29, 2013, at the Hock Family Pavilion in Durham.

A native of Cumberland County, she was the daughter of the late Thomas Hubert and Mary Magdelene Veasey Washington. She was a member of Bethany United Methodist Church, lived at Croasdaile Village for many years and faithfully attended Few Chapel in the Croasdaile community.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, April 1, 2013, at 2 p.m., in the Eakes Funeral Chapel in Creedmoor by the Rev. Jimmy Weaver. Burial will be in Carolina Memorial Gardens in Creedmoor.

Survivors include: a son, William “Bill” B. Garner III.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hock Family Pavilion, 4023 N. Roxboro Road, Durham, NC 27704; or to Bethany United Methodist Church, 2809 Guess Road, Durham, NC 27705.

Visitation will take place Monday, April 1, 2013, from 12:30-1:45 p.m., prior to the funeral service at the Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor.

Priscilla R. Johnson

WARREN COUNTY — Priscilla R. Johnson, 86, of Durham, (formerly of Warren County) died Wednesday, March 20, 2013, at Carver Living Center in Durham.

Memorial services will be conducted Monday, April 1, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Boyd’s Funeral Services Chapel in Warrenton. Paul Miles will officiate.

Survivors include, one daughter, Phyllis Elaine Johnson Tapp of Efland; two sons, James Thomas and William Hail Johnson, both of Warrenton; 11 grandchildren; two sisters, Carrie Bell Robinson and Emma Enolia Alston, both of Warrenton; one brother; Melvin Tom Robinson of Warrenton; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great grandchildren.

Professional services are by Boyd’s Funeral Services in Warrenton.

Robert L. Perry

HEMPSTEAD, N.Y. — Bishop Robert Lee Perry, 65, of Hempstead, N.Y., died Saturday, March 23, 2013, at Winthrop University Hospital in Long Island, N.Y.
