Mildred C. Briggs

CREEDMOOR — Mildred Churchill Briggs, 69, a resident of Creedmoor, died Saturday, March 16, 2013, at the home of her son.

A native of Durham County, she was the widow of Marvin H. Briggs, and the daughter of the late Clyde and Mary Medlin Churchill. She attended Olive Grove Baptist Church and retired from the Durham Exchange Club. She spent much of her time with family, friends and her dog.

Funeral services will be conducted Monday, March 18, 2013, at 11 a.m., in the Eakes Funeral Chapel in Creedmoor by the Rev. Dean Perry and the Rev. Brad Wiggs. Burial will follow in South Granville Memorial Gardens in Stem.

Survivior include a daughter, Dorenda B. Michalina, and a son, Z. Chris Briggs, both of Creedmoor, two sisters, Frances Rogers of Durham and Peggy Greene of Creedmoor; and five grandchildren. She was preceded in death by a daughter, Dana Renee Briggs; and two brothers, Troy Churchill and Carlton Churchill.

The family prefers that contributions be made to the Granville County Animal Shelter, 5650 Cornwall Road, Oxford, NC 27565; flowers will also be accepted.

Visitation will take place today, from 6-8:30 p.m., and at the Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and at other times at the home of Todd and Dorenda Michalina.

Lannie C. Dickerson

CREEDMOOR — Lannie Christine Dickerson, 87, a longtime resident of Creedmoor, died Saturday, March 16, 2013, at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham.

A native of Franklin County, she was the daughter of the late Phoenix and Lannie Chappell. A member of Creedmoor First Baptist Church for most of her life, she retired in 2007 from Southern States after 56 years of service.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, March 19, 2013, at 2 p.m., in the Eakes Funeral Chapel in Creedmoor by the Rev. Lenny Rogers. Burial will follow in Creedmoor Cemetery.

Survivors include a sister, Josephine Dickerson Paschall of Durham.

Visitation will be held Monday, March 18, 2013, from 6-7:30 p.m., at Eakes Funeral Home in Creedmoor and other times at the home.
