John H. Feild Jr.

CLARKSVILLE, Va. — John Hamilton Feild Jr. (Johnny), 47, husband of Wendy Newby Feild, passed away Sunday, July 13, 2014.

He was born Sept. 2, 1966, in Halifax, Virginia, to John Hamilton Feild Sr. and Julia Ann Waddell Feild. Johnny attended Bluestone Middle/High School. His senior year, he attended Varina High School in Richmond, Virginia, where he graduated in 1984.

He served seven years active duty in the United States Air Force and later retired as a technical sergeant from the Air National Guard to complete 20 years of service. He retired June 13, 2011, and was awarded the “Meritorious Service” medal. Also, during his career he was awarded several achievement medals and accommodation medals for his outstanding performance. He served two tours of duty, including “Desert Storm” and “Iraq/Enduring Freedom.” He was employed as a quality assurance specialist at the Defense Supply Center of Richmond (DLA).

Johnny was a member of the Twin Rivers Masonic Lodge No. 338 and the Roanoke River VFW Post No. 8163 in Clarksville, Virginia. He was a member of Jamieson Methodist Church in Clarksville Virginia. Johnny enjoyed hunting, boating, dancing and spending time with family and friends. His latest enjoyment was spending time with his grandson, Jackson.

Mr. Feild is survived by his wife of 28 years, Wendy Newby Feild of Bullock; one son, Justin Hamilton Feild (fiancé Sarah Whitten); one grandson, Jackson Hamilton Feild; his father, John Hamilton Feild Sr. (Kaye) of Clarksville, Virginia; his mother, Julia Ann Waddell Coppridge (Ervin) of Amelia, Virginia; his sister, Catherine Feild Leeper (Mark) of Chesterfield, Virginia; two nieces, Catie and Meghan Leeper; one nephew, Collin Leeper; three stepbrothers; and one stepsister.

Visitation will be held Wednesday, July 16, from 7 to 9 p.m. at Watkins Cooper Lyon Funeral Home.

Funeral services will be held Thursday, July 17, at 2 p.m. at the Watkins Cooper Lyon Chapel. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery, Arlington, Virginia.

Tommy L. Key

HENDERSON — Mr. Tommy Lee Key, beloved husband and father, age 70, a resident of 2342 Oxford Road, passed away July 13, 2014, at his home.

Born February 11, 1944, in Roanoke Rapids, he was the son of the late Marvin Hilbert Key and Helen Snow Key.

He was a retired from IBM Corporation, where he worked as a software engineer.

Private prayers will be held by the family at The Church of the Holy Innocents.

Mr. Key is survived by his wife, Crystal Cabot Key of the home; his daughter, Kelly K. Dodd of Clayton; a brother, Donald Dean Key; and two grandchildren, James and Rebecca Dodd.

He was preceded in death by a brother, David P. Key.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to The Church of the Holy Innocents, 210 S. Chestnut St., Henderson, NC 27536.

NEW YORK — Thomas Earl Jordan, 71,of Brooklyn, New York, formerly of Ridgeway, died Sunday, July 6, 2014.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. today, July 15, 2014, at Ridgeway Missionary Baptist Church in Ridgeway by the Rev. Willie T. Ramey III. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Viewing will be at the church one hour prior to the service.
