Melvin W. Brame
HENDERSON — Melvin Willis Brame, 86, of 804 Eastside Drive, died Thursday, July 10, 2014, at Maria Parham Medical Center.
Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late Edward Clarence and Ferrell Wilson Brame.
He was the widower of Ruth Eaves Brame.
Mr. Brame was a retired employee of Long’s Pump & Tank Service. He attended City Road United Methodist Church. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps.
A memorial service will be held Sunday, July 13, 2014, at 2 p.m. at City Road United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Edgar Vergara.
Surviving are two daughters, Barbara B. Riley and husband Danny, and Deborah A. Brame, all of Henderson; a brother, Sidney B. Brame and wife Mae of Henderson; three grandchildren, Kevin Riley and wife Angela, Timmy Riley and wife Regina and Patrick Riley; five great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a son, Ralph Thomas Brame; a sister, Louise B. Bradsher; and four brothers, Edward C. Brame Jr., John L. Brame, William Alvin Brame and Ben H. Brame.
The family will receive friends at the church immediately following the service. All other times, they will be at the home, 804 Eastside Drive, Henderson.

OXFORD — Janet H. Barlowe, 79, died Wednesday, July 9, 2014, at UNC Hospitals in Chapel Hill.
A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, July 13, at Hester Baptist Church by the Rev. Alex Gallimore. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall of the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hester Baptist Church, P.O. Box 964, Oxford, NC 27565.
