Beulah T. Fisher

BULLOCK — Beulah Thomas Fisher, 90, of 653 Keeton Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at her residence.

She was born April 4, 1923, in Keesville, Va., to the late Emma Terry and James Thomas.

She was educated in the Vance County school system. At an early age she joined Antioch United Church of Christ, where she was a faithful member until moving her membership to Greater Love Ministry Church, where she was known as the church “Mother” until her death.

She was employed with the Vance County Sheriff’s Office for 20 years before retiring. She was married to the late Woodrow Fisher Sr.

A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 22, at Davis-Chapel Missionary Baptist Church with Pastor Charles Turrentine Sr. officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Gardens.

The body will be on view from noon to 5 p.m. today, Dec. 21, in the chapel of Davis-Royster Funeral Service and at the church one hour prior to the service.

Survivors include five daughters, Thelma F. Colbert (Boyd) and Glendora F. Yancey of Townsville, Earnestine F. Henderson (Marshall) of Wake Forest and Elizabeth F. Plummer (Michael) and Vanette F. Dunston of Henderson; two sons, Larry D. Fisher of South Carolina and Calvin M. Fisher Sr. of New Jersey; 17 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren.

The family is receiving friends at the residence.

Carlester L. Gibbs

HENDERSON — Carlester Lawson Gibbs, 81, of 1319 Walter Street, died Tuesday, Dec. 17, 2013, at Kerr Lake Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

A funeral will be held at 11 a.m. today, Dec. 21, at Spring Street Missionary Baptist Church by Pastor Anthony Vickers. Interment will follow in Blacknall Cemetery.

Viewing is at the church one hour prior to the service.

Louise G. Spruill

MACON — Louise Green Spruill, 82, formerly of Bullock, died Wednesday, Dec. 18, 2013, at her residence.

A funeral will be held at 2 p.m. Monday, Dec. 23, at Cedar Grove Baptist Church No. 2 in Clarksville, Va., by Rev. Cornelius Ogburn. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends Sunday, Dec. 22, from 5 to 6 p.m. at Betts & Son Funeral Home in Oxford.
