David C. Adcock

HENDERSON — David Carter Adcock, 53, of 120 Tower Road, Henderson, died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at his home.

Born in Richmond, Va., he was the son of the late Everette Carter Adcock and Jean Reams Adcock.

Mr. Adcock was a former employee of Georgia Pacific Inc.

Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 27, at 3 p.m. at Flowers Funeral Chapel conducted by Rev. Julia Alliger. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.

Surviving are his wife, Wendy Gill Adcock; a daughter, Brittany Sue Adcock of the home; a son, Travis David Adcock of the home; two sisters, Brenda W. Adams and Peggy A. Combs; and a brother, Tommy Wright.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a sister, Jean A. Purcell.

The family will receive friends Friday, Dec. 27, from 2 to 3 p.m. at Flowers Funeral Home. At all other times, they will be at the home, 120 Tower Road, Henderson.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Gary Cline Gill Jr., Jimmy Waddell, Donald Wayne Gill Sr., Troy Adams, Wayne Cleaton, Michael Cleaton, Jeff Faulkner and Mike Limer.

Anthony W. Hedgepeth Sr.

TUCSON, Ariz. — Anthony Wayne “Tony” Hedgepeth Sr., 76, of 8508 Louise Drive, Tucson, AZ 85730, died Saturday, Dec. 21, 2013, at his home.

Born in Vance County, he was the son of Ozzie Catlett Hedgepeth of Henderson and the late George Lester Hedgepeth. He was the widower of Debbie Southerland Hedgepeth.

Mr. Hedgepeth was a retired sheet metal fabricator. He was a veteran of the U.S. Air Force. He enjoyed playing and singing country and western music.

A graveside funeral service will be held Friday, Dec. 27, 2013, at 11 a.m. at East Lawn Palms Cemetery in Tucson, Ariz., conducted by Dr. John Hedgepeth, uncle of the deceased, of Fayetteville, N.C.

Surviving are a daughter, Tammy Jean H. Tassi of Tucson; a son, Anthony Wayne Hedgepeth Jr. of Tucson; a sister, Betty H. Reams and husband Billy of Henderson, N.C.; a brother, Timothy Hedgepeth and wife Stephanie of Henderson, N.C.; a sister-in-law, Debbie Hedgepeth of Henderson, N.C.; three grandsons, Levi Hedgepeth, Jesse James Hedgepeth and Brandon Tassi, all of Tucson; and his girl friend, Jean Ogletree of Tucson.

In addition to his wife, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jimmy Hedgepeth, and a granddaughter, Ashleigh Fawn Tassi.

Jimmy C. Watson

HENDERSON — Jimmy Carl “J.C.” Watson, age 74, a former resident of Senior Citizens Nursing Home, died Tuesday, Dec. 24, 2013, at Hock Family Pavilion in Durham.

Born on July 25, 1939, in Bladen County, he was the son of the late Franklin Watson Sr. and Rena Bass Watson. He was retired from Lambert’s Cable Splicing Co., where he was a telephone lineman.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. in the J.M. White Funeral Home Chapel by Rev. Dwight Jones. Burial will follow at Sunset Gardens.

He is survived by two daughters, Becky W. Earp and husband, Jimmy, of Fremont, and Susan W. Gill of Henderson; one son, Jeff Watson and wife, Dawn, of Henderson; the mother of his children and dear friend, Betty Bailey Watson of Henderson; three sisters, Minnie Floyd and husband Jim of Benton, Ark., Dixie Heffner and husband Roland of Prattville, Ala., and Lou Neal Taylor and husband Ernie of Elizabethtown; six grandchildren, Joshua Earp, Jason Earp, Ben Earp, Kaitlyn Gill, Payne Watson and Noah Watson; and one great-grandson, Gabe Earp.

The family will receive friends Friday night from 7 until 8:30 at J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home of Jeff and Dawn Watson at 991 Hedrick Drive, in the Kerr Lake Country Club community.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Payne Watson, Josh Earp, Michael Cartlidge, Jim Matea, Durwood Daniels and Ronnie Grissom. Serving as honorary pallbearers will be Jason Earp and Noah Watson.

OXFORD — Vincent Carlton Fields, 54, of 205 Harris St., died Monday, Dec. 23, 2013, at Granville Medical Center.

A funeral service will be held at 3 p.m. Friday, Dec. 27, in the chapel of Davis-Royster Funeral Service. Interment will follow in Blacknall Cemetery.
