Rosa K. Alexander
WARRENTON — Rosa Kearney Alexander, 57, of Warrenton, died Monday, Dec. 3, 2012, at Warren Hills Nursing Center in Warrenton.
Funeral services will be conducted Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at 2 p.m., at Greater Lovely Hill Baptist Church in Macon. The Rev. Doris Jean Jones will officiate and burial will follow in the church cemetery.
Survivors include: her husband, Jamie Alexander of the home; one son, Monsellus Kearney of Soul City; two sisters, Josephine Kearney and Priscilla K. Bullock, all of Henderson; and one brother, James M. Kearney of Macon.
The body will be on view today, from 11 a.m.-7 p.m., at Boyd’s Funeral Services Chapel in Warrenton.
Professional services have been entrusted to Boyd’s Funeral Services in Warrenton.
Carl R. Coleman
WARREN COUNTY — Carl Roland Coleman, 67, of Jamaica, N.Y. (formerly of Warren County), died Friday, Nov. 30, 2012, at Jamaica Hospital in Jamaica, N.Y.
Graveside services will be conducted today, at noon at Greenwood Baptist Church Cemetery in Warrenton with the Rev. Cheryl Harper officiating.
He is survived by his children, Desiree, Carl, Michael, Shawn, Russell and Janelle; eight grandchildren; his mother, Annie Coleman of Warrenton; two sisters, Faustine and Malinda; and a host of other relatives and friends.
GREENVILLE — Dennis Henderson, 44, died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, at Vidant Medical Center in Greenville.
The family is receiving friends at the home of Mr. David Johnson, 226 Skenes Drive, Henderson. Arrangements will be announced by Davis-Royster Funeral Service.
Frank B. Robards, Jr.
HENDERSON — Frank Benjamin Robards Jr., died Tuesday, Dec. 4, 2012, in Rock Hill, S.C., following a long illness.
The son of the late Frank Benjamin Robards and Alice Thomas Robards, he was born on Dec. 11, 1929, in Henderson.
Funeral services will be Saturday, Dec. 8, 2012, at 11 a.m., at First Presbyterian Church, Rock Hill, S.C. with the Rev. Dr. John Y. Todd III and the Rev. Tai Z. Magette, officiating. The family will receive friends today, from 5-7 p.m., at Greene Funeral Home Northwest Chapel, 2133 Ebenezer Road, Rock Hill, S.C.
Robards was a 1951 graduate of both The Citadel and the Stonier Graduate School of Banking at Rutgers University. He was a captain in the United States Air Force and served overseas in the Korean War.
He began his banking career with Citizens & Southern National Bank in Augusta, Ga., as an assistant trust officer and assistant cashier, and then as a vice-president with Citizens Bank & Trust in his hometown, Henderson. He moved to Rock Hill, S.C., in 1966 to serve as executive vice president of Rock Hill National Bank and then became president of the bank in 1972. He once served as director of the Federal Reserve Bank of Richmond, Va.
After retiring from banking in 1991, Robards worked as a business consultant, served as the interim director of York County Hospice Inc. He then took a position as the vice president in charge of the Piedmont Medical Services Co., a subsidiary of Piedmont Medical Center, retiring in 1998.
Robards was an active member of First Presbyterian Church where he served as an elder, taught Sunday school, and as a member the Stewardship Committee. He also served as a lay minister at several small area churches. In addition, he served on numerous boards, such as the York County Natural Gas Authority (chair), Investors National Life Insurance Board (director), the Chamber of Commerce, York County Library Board and the Industrial Park Board.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Mildred Kenyon Roberts Robards, and his sister, Betsy Robards Royall. He is also survived by his children, Frank Benjamin Robards III of Rock Hill, S.C.; James Roberts Robards of Charlotte; and Mary Kenyon Robards Jones of Columbia, S.C.; and seven grandchildren.
