Lois B. Currin

OXFORD — Lois Brady Currin, 94, of 104 W. Quail Ridge Road, Oxford, passed away on Thursday, June 27, 2013, at home following a period of declining health.

A native of Brunswick County, she was predeceased by her parents, Horace Greeley and Margaret Edwards Brady; by her husband of 47 years, Thomas Benjamin Currin; and by her brother, James Brady.

She was a member of the Oxford Baptist Church, where she served as president of the Women’s Missionary Union, Departmental Sunday School Superintendent, and sang in the chancel choir. She also served as president of the Oxford Woman’s Club.

She was a graduate of Campbell Junior College and East Carolina College and was a longtime Granville County teacher.

Surviving are her three sons — Samuel Thomas Currin (Margaret) of Raleigh, Horace Benjamin Currin of Oxford and Thomas Brady Currin (Terry) of Butner; three grandchildren — Ashley Currin Lloyd (Gerald) of Oxford, Samuel Thomas Currin II of Raleigh and Tyler Brady Currin (Heather) of Butner; two great-grandchildren — Avery Currin of Butner and Brady Lloyd of Oxford; and a sister, Mavis Mahaney of Southport.

A private family service was held on Saturday, June 29, 2013. Burial was in Elmwood Cemetery.

The family greatly appreciates the love and care provided to their mother during her illness by Ruth Carter.

John S. Wilson

HENDERSON — John Shelton Wilson, 31, of 6361 Drewry-Virginia Line Road, Manson, died Friday, June 28, 2013, at Maria Parham Medical Center in Henderson.

Born in Vance County, he was the son of John Crandall Wilson and Jeanne Knight Wilson of Manson.

Mr. Wilson was a paramedic with the Vance County EMS. He was a member of Central Baptist Church.

Funeral services will be held Sunday, June 30, 2013, at 2 p.m., at Central Baptist Church, conducted by Dr. Randy Mann and Dr. Bruce Beck. Burial will follow in Mt. Auburn United Church of Christ Cemetery.

Surviving, in addition to his parents, are his wife, Monika Elaine Wilson; his twin brother, James Crandall Wilson of Swannanoa; his aunt, Deborah Knight of Black Mountain; and his uncle, Floyd Eugene Wilson of Manson.

The family will receive friends today, June 30, 2013, from 1 to 2 p.m., at Central Baptist Church. All other times, they will be at the home of Crandall and Jeanne Wilson, 6238 Drewry Virginia Line Road, Manson (in the Drewry community).

Serving as active pallbearers will be Lee Overton, Barry Chandler, Wayne Burnette, David Crockett, John Thomas and Mike Cassaloe. Paramedics from Vance and Warren counties will serve as honorary pallbearers.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Central Baptist Church, Missions or Building Fund, P.O. Box 178, Henderson, NC 27536.

Benjamin T. Adcock Jr.

RALEIGH — Benjamin Thomas “Tom” Adcock Jr. of Raleigh, 72, died Saturday, June 29, 2013, at Hospice of Wake County.

Funeral services will be conducted at 2 p.m., Wednesday, July 3, 2013, at Hester Baptist Church in Oxford by Rev. Mark Tolley and Rev. Alex Gallimore. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends at Gentry-Newell & Vaughan Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 2, 2013, from 7 to 8:30 p.m.

HENDERSON — Nellie Culbreath Woodruff, 72, died Friday, June 28, 2013.

A graveside service will be conducted Tuesday, July 2, 2013, at 2 p.m. in Sunset Memorial Gardens. The family will receive friends following the service.
