Judith V. Hester

HENDERSON — Judith Virginia Hester, age 72, a resident of 120 Parham St., died peacefully on Friday, June 6, 2014, in a local nursing home.

Born in Vance County on May 16, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Furney Green Hester Jr. and Bessie Harris Hester.

Judy was a member of Spring Valley United Methodist Church and attended church as long as she was able.

Funeral services will be held today, June 7, 2014, at 2 p.m. in the J.M. White Funeral Home Chapel by the Rev. Calvin Dickenson. Burial will follow in the Flat Rock United Methodist Church Cemetery.

She is survived by two brothers, Ralph Thomas Hester and wife Betty of Henderson and John Allen Hester of Piedmont, South Carolina; her niece, Susan Hester Smith (J.T.) of Charlotte; her nephews, Allen Hester (Elizabeth) of Raleigh, Thomas Hester of Fort Myers, Florida, and David Hester of Townsville; her great-nephews; and many cousins and friends.

The family will receive friends prior to the service today, June 7, from 12:30 to 2 p.m. at J.M. White Funeral Home. At other times they will be at the home at 120 Parham Road.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Thomas Hester, Allen Hester, David Hester, J.T. Smith, Kelly Hester, Daniel Hester, Andrew Hester, Luke Hester and Walker Smith.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Spring Valley United Methodist Church, 955 Spring Valley Road, Henderson, NC 27537, or to the American Cancer Society, P.O. Box 914, Henderson, NC 27536.

HENDERSON — Paul Koenen died on October 4, 2013.

A memorial service will be held Saturday, June 14, at 2 p.m. to celebrate his life and art at the United Methodist Church in Saluda.

The family requests that no one wear black to the service.

HENDERSON — Demurest Hawkins Bullock, 80, of 456 Carver School Road, died Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at her residence.

A funeral will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, June 8, in the chapel of Davis-Royster Funeral Service. Interment will follow at Brookston Baptist Church Cemetery.

Viewing will be from noon to 5:30 p.m. today, June 7, in the funeral home chapel.

The family is receiving friends at the residence.

OXFORD — George Bobbitt, 67, of 610 Raleigh St., died Wednesday, June 4, 2014, at his home.

OXFORD — Jerry Lee “Bubba” Curtis, 59, of 4188 U.S. 15 South, died Tuesday, June 3, 2014, in Butner.

George L. Harrison

HENDERSON — George Lee Harrison, 66, formerly of Warren County, died Sunday, June 1, in Hackensack, New Jersey.

A funeral will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, June 9, at Union Grove Baptist Church in Henderson by Pastor Jimmy Hayes. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

Viewing will be from noon to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, June 8, in the chapel of Davis-Royster Funeral Service and at the church one hour prior to the service.

Arrangements are by Davis-Royster Funeral Service.

KITTRELL — Dallas Roy Johnson Jr., 55, of 2452 Dick Smith Road, died Thursday, June 4, 2014, at his residence.
