Charles E. Parham

HENDERSON — Charles Elroy Parham, 49, of 2247 Warrenton Road, died Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Duke University Medical Center in Durham.

Born in Brodnax, Va., he was the son of the late Robert Sterling and Bessie Mae Lawson Parham.

Mr. Parham was an employee of Through the Barn Door Furniture Company. He was a member of South Henderson Church of God and attended Young Memorial United Holy Church.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Young Memorial United Holy Church, conducted by Pastor Walter Young.

Surviving are his wife, Roberta Edwards Parham; a stepdaughter, Felicia Myers of Novi, Mich.; two stepsons, Chris Roberson and Genie Roberson, both of Henderson; two sisters, Debbie P. Boyd and Patricia P. Norwood, both of Henderson; and two brothers, Timothy Scott Parham of Raleigh and Robert Parham of Clinton.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Bonnie P. Evans.

The family will receive friends at the home, 2247 Warrenton Road, Henderson.

Rev. Charles Rowland

CLIMAX — Rev. Charles “Chuck” Rowland, age 84, went to be with his Lord on March 16, 2014, after a brief illness.

Rev. Rowland was raised in Greenwood, Miss.

The funeral service will be held at Bethlehem United Methodist Church in Climax at 2 p.m. Wednesday, March 19, 2014. The graveside service will immediately follow in the church cemetery.

He served in the Korean War as a U.S. Marine. After completing his military service, Chuck worked in the textile industry for many years, until he was called to serve as a United Methodist Minister. He served numerous churches throughout the state of North Carolina. After retiring, he continued to serve in the ministry.

He enjoyed playing golf while his health allowed it, fishing with friends, watching Duke basketball and Ole Miss football, and spending time with his family.

He is preceded in death by his parents and three brothers.

Those left to cherish his memory include his devoted wife of 46 years, Ruth; his brother, William Rowland of Oxford, Miss.; children, Teri McGinn of Taylors, S.C., Beth Rogers of Hiddenite, Bobby Rowland of Seagrove, Barbara Hodges of Reidsville, Laura Beggan of Louisville, Ky., Sarah Campbell of Silk Hope and Terry Rowland of Chapel Hill; grandchildren, Bryan, Josh, Tiffany, Niki, Devan, Nikki, Ayden, Gavin, Chelsey, Hagan and Kaydee; and great-grandchildren, Jordan, Drake, Weston and Ethan.

The family will receive friends on Tuesday, March 18, 2014, from 6 to 9 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that memorials be sent to your church cemetery fund.

 

Clyde T. Robinson Sr.

HENDERSON — Clyde Thomas Robinson Sr., 85, of 1650 Ruin Creek Road, died Saturday, March 15, 2014, at his home.

Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late Claude Marshall and Ruth Carter Robinson.

Mr. Robinson was a former employee of Coca-Cola Bottling Company and retired from Harriet & Henderson Yarns Inc. He was a member of St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, where he was a former elder, deacon and Sunday school superintendent, and was a former member of the Vance County Rescue Squad. He enjoyed camping, cooking and going to the beach. He was an avid automobile mechanic.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at 11 a.m. at St. Andrews Presbyterian Church. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Virginia Paul Robinson; two daughters, Vickie R. Ball and husband Randy of Henderson and Kimberly D. Lester of Raleigh; a son, C.T. Roberson Jr. and wife Sharlene of Henderson; a sister, Barbara R. Burwell and husband Spott of Oxford; seven grandchildren, Justin Roberson and wife Ashley, Morgan Roberson and fiancé John Cash, Colin Roberson, Ken Currin, Dawn Jenkins and husband Bo, Ryan Ball and wife Jessica and Randal Ball and wife Julie; and seven great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by a sister, Emma R. Moody.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the church. All other times, they will be at the home.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Randy Moody, Steve Moody, Eugene Burwell, Scott Burwell, Ryan Ball, Randal Ball, Justin Roberson, Colin Roberson, Dannie Robinson and John Cash.

Flowers will be accepted or memorials may be made to St. Andrews Presbyterian Church, 100 Hicksboro Road, Henderson, NC 27537, or to Community Home Care and Hospice, 152 Zeb Robinson Road, Henderson, NC 27537.

The family wishes to extend a special “Thank You” to Monica, Jamie and Shirley, his caregivers with Community Home Care and Hospice.

Sidney C. Dickerson

ROCKY MOUNT — Sidney Cole Dickerson, 68, passed away Saturday, March 15, 2014.

He was born Jan. 18, 1946, in Vance County, to the late Sidney Dickerson and Mary Hawkins.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Idean Dickerson; sister, Nancy Franklin; and brother, Aubrey Dickerson.

He leaves to cherish his memory his daughter, Sheila Faircloth; one brother, Billy Dickerson; one sister, Carolyn Smith; his grandchildren, Randall, Justin and Michelle; and his great-grandchildren, Hannah, Zachary, Cole and Tiffany.

The funeral service will be Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at 7 p.m. in the chapel of Cornerstone Funeral Home. Visitation will follow the service.

Grace J. Eatmon

HENDERSON — Grace Jackson Eatmon, 86, of 1257 Southerland Mill Road, died Saturday, March 15, 2014, at Maria Parham Medical Center.

Born in Warren County, she was the daughter of the late Omega Rufus “O.R.” Jackson Sr. and Mary West Jackson.

She was the widow of the Rev. J. Everette Eatmon.

Mrs. Eatmon was a homemaker. She was a member of Crossroads Pentecostal Holiness Church (formerly Thomas Chapel Pentecostal Holiness Church).

Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 18, 2014, at 11 a.m. at Crossroads Pentecostal Holiness Church, conducted by the Rev. Robert Dowen and the Rev. Dale Eatmon. Burial will follow in Sunset Gardens.

Surviving are a daughter, Anita E. Smith and husband Danny of Henderson; three sons, Everette LeVerne Eatmon of Henderson, the Rev. Dale Christian Eatmon and wife Pamela of Louisburg, and Jamie Eatmon and wife Leslie of Kittrell; 13 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren.

The family received friends Monday, March 17, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Flowers Funeral Home. All other times, they will be at the home of Chrissie and Wesley Riley, 1217 Southerland Mill Road, Henderson.

Serving as active pallbearers will be Jason Brantley, Wesley Riley, Daniel Smith, J.R. Eatmon, Brandon Billings, Eddie Robertson, Curtis Jackson, Brad Eatmon, Doug Beamon, Tommy Brantley and Jimmy Lawrence.

Henry W. Shearin

HENDERSON — Henry Weathers Shearin, 76, of 66 Country Acres Drive, died Sunday, March 16, 2014, at Universal Healthcare in Oxford.

Born in Halifax County, he was the son of the late Henry Jackson and Christine Carter Shearin.

Mr. Shearin was educated in Wayne County schools. He was a U.S. Marine Corps veteran of the Korean War. He joined the Henderson Police Department for five years, then joined the Vance County Sheriff’s Office. After a total of 31 1/2 years, he retired in 1992. He was a member of Gillburg United Methodist Church.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 19, 2014, at 3 p.m. at Gillburg United Methodist Church, conducted by the Rev. Calvin Dickenson. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Surviving are his wife, Carolyn Ellis Shearin; two sons, Nathaniel Ray Shearin and wife Jonnie and Nokomus H. Shearin and wife Melinda, all of Henderson; a stepdaughter, Janet Stainback Newton and husband Bob of Creedmoor; a stepson, Talmadge Stainback and wife Joann of Epsom; five grandchildren; a number of half-brothers and sisters and one special half-brother, Doug Shearin and wife Linda, of Cheaspeake, Va., Brandon Shearin, Haley Shearin, Nokomus Shearin Jr., Joseph Shearin and Ryan Shearin; three stepgrandchildren, Talmadge Lee Stainback, Kathryn Louise Hedgepeth and husband Butch, and Ashley Danielle Newton; a step-great-grandchild, Mackenzie Hedgepeth; and two great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his stepmother, Sallie Paschall; two sisters, Mildred Parrish and Sarah Bryan; and a brother, Willis A. Shearin.

The family will receive friends today, March 18, from 7 to 8:30 p.m. at Flowers Funeral Home. All other times, they will be at the home, 66 Country Acres, Henderson.

Serving as active pallbearers will be James Lilly, Bill Lilly, Joe Perry, Herman Breedlove, Donald Johnson, Billy Currin, H.B. Ayscue, Joe Faucette and Jerry Allen.
