Janet G. Weathersbee

RALEIGH — Janet Glenn Weathersbee, 78, passed away on Saturday, March 1, 2014.

Janet and her family lived in Henderson from 1968 until 1975.

She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Robert I. Weathersbee; her sister, Mary Lee Glenn Green of Louisburg; her children, Rhonda, Lee and Lynn; three grandchildren; and a great-grandchild.

A memorial service and celebration of her life will be held at Mitchell’s Funeral Home on Glenwood Avenue, Raleigh, at 1 p.m. Saturday, March 8. A reception will follow the service.

Eddie T. Ellis

HENDERSON — Eddie Thomas Ellis, 57, was born Jan. 22, 1957, to the late Richard Eugene Ellis and Margaret A. Ellis in Henderson. He entered eternal rest on March 3, 2014, in Sentara Princess Anne Hospital in Virginia Beach, Va.

A funeral service will be held at noon Saturday, March 8, at Progressive Faith Missionary Baptist Church. Interment will follow in Sunset Gardens. The body will be on view today, March 7, from

noon to 8 p.m. at Davis-Royster Funeral Service and at the church one hour prior to the service.

The family will receive friends from 6 to 7 p.m. today, March 7, at the funeral home and all other times at 510 Young St.

Bobby G. Buchanan

NEW YORK — Bobby Gray Buchanan, 77, of 277 W. 22nd St., died Tuesday, Feb. 11, 2014, at Bellevue Hospital Center in New York.

Born in Vance County, he was the son of the late Moyel Gray Buchanan and Alma Ellington Buchanan.

Mr. Buchanan was a graduate of Oxford High School and RPI/VCU in Richmond, Va. He received a Master’s Degree from the University of Virginia in Charlottesville, Va. He was owner, director and producer of Lakewood Theatre in Barnsville, Pa., and Broadway Dinner Theatre in Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. He directed Stock Productions in New Jersey, Maine, Virginia and Massachusetts, and was associated with many Broadway and Off-Broadway productions.

Bobby traveled extensively all over the world. He enjoyed life and meeting people. He had many friends among the rich and famous and “not so famous.” He will be missed by all his families in North Carolina, Virginia and Texas.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, March 8, 2014, at 1 p.m. at Flowers Funeral Chapel in Henderson, N.C., conducted by Rev. Alfred Ayscue. Burial will follow in Elmwood Cemetery in Oxford, N.C.

Surviving are a sister-in-law, Barbara Buchanan of Houston, Texas, and two nieces, Dr. Kimberly Cress, of Houston, Texas, and Stacy Brownrigg of Dallas, Texas.

The family will receive friends immediately following the service at the cemetery.

KITTRELL — Betty Ruth Person Hunter, 65, of 1692 S. U.S. 1, died Thursday, March 6, 2014, at Maria Parham Medical Center.

WISE — John Ernest Moody, 92, died Wednesday, March 5, 2014, at Rex Healthcare in Raleigh.

WARRENTON — Luther “Phil” Carney Sutton, 59, died Wednesday, Feb. 26, 2014.

A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, March 8, at Roanoke Chapel United Church of Christ in Palmer Springs, Va., by Rev. Mary M. Stinnett.
