Youth opportunity available in summer with Rebuilding Hope
Rebuilding Hope, a Henderson non-profit organization dedicated to repairing homes for those in need, will provide youth with the opportunity to take part in a special mission project this summer.
Servants On Site will take place between June 22 and June 29, during which time youth and adult volunteers will work to repair 20 homes throughout Vance, Warren and Granville counties.
“Each project will have between 10 to 12 youth and adults working,” said Randolph Wilson, president of Rebuilding Hope, Inc. “Most jobs will be replacing roofs, and building wheelchair ramps.”
Local churches will sponsor the project, providing funding for utilities and signing up to provide lunch delivery to various job sites. Currently Wilson says Servants on Site is seeking churches interested in providing such services.
For young people, the project will provide an eye-opening mission experience that will allow them to meet youth from various churches in the community.
“When they come we divide them all up between different youth groups, then that way they get to meet and learn and make friends with other people,” Wilson said. “It gives them a great mission experience to be able to go out and work on houses with people and connect with them.
“It also teaches them how to use tools. It’s a great learning experience for them.”
Servants On Site is offering church families the chance to support their ministry of hope through their generous donations.
According to Wilson, local churches provided funding in whole for materials, and also provided lunches, drinks and ice at job sites in past years when Rebuilding Hope worked with World Changers.
This year church families will have the opportunity to mobilize, equip and disciple students in an evangelistic effort to impact the lost and fallen.
Wilson currently has between 40 and 50 youth signed up, but hopes to reach his cutoff point of 300.
Servants On Site is for all students who have completed grades six through adults.
Lodging is being provided at Crossroads Christian School at 583 Old County Home Road, Henderson. Staff will provide breakfast and lunch each day.
The cost of the seven-day mission is $125 per participant, which includes a themed T-shirt.
A $50 deposit per person is due when reserving space and $75 balance is due before April 30, 2013.
