Annexation request under consideration in Oxford
OXFORD — During their meeting this evening, the Oxford city commissioners will hold a public hearing on a petition by Oxford Charter Holdings for voluntary annexation of 6.4 acres on Landis Road.
The property is the site of Oxford Prep High School, a charter school that opened in August. After the public hearing, the commissioners will consider an ordinance annexing the property.
In a related action, the board will consider calling for a public hearing in conjunction with the Oct. 8 meeting to assign a zoning classification to the property.
The commissioners will also consider holding a public hearing to review sections of the zoning ordinance related to parking, landscaping and permitted uses.
Randy Hemann, the city manager, will be considered for appointment as interim finance officer. Melba Knott is being considered for deputy finance director in conjunction with the move.
Recognitions are also anticipated for former city employees John Wolford and Steven McNally.
The meeting will be held at 7 p.m. in the commissioners’ board room.
