Hospital provides marketplace assistance

Maria Parham Medical Center has staff dedicated to helping those interested navigate healthcare.gov, the new marketplace created by the federal government as part of the Affordable Care Act.

In a statement released Thursday, the hospital confirmed a certified application counselor is available to help explore coverage options, complete applications for coverage and determine which plans are included from local health-care providers.

Appointments, or discussions by telephone, can be made by calling toll free (888) 982-9144. Questions can also be sent via email to mariaparham.cac@lpnt.net.

Information is also available online at mariaparham.com or healthcare.gov.

According to the hospital statement, more than 3 million Americans have already signed up through the marketplace. The hospital’s intent is to be sure the community understands the marketplace and “feels confident in exploring their new options for coverage.”

The current enrollment period closes March 31, and another will not reopen until the fall.
