The Local Government Federal Credit Union recently named Jordan McMillen, Vance County’s planning director, to the Northern Triangle Advisory Council.

As a member of the council comprised of Vance, Granville, Warren and Franklin counties, McMillen will be an integral part of LGFCU’s volunteer-driven initiative to educate people on credit union membership benefits.

“The local government credit union, they provide a lot of scholarships for local government employees to go to continuing education,” McMillen said. “The reason I decided I would do it was because they’ve helped me with scholarships.”

McMillen is currently taking courses at UNC Chapel Hill’s School of Government, with help from LGFCU.

Advisory council members also act as liaisons between credit union members, non-members and LGFCU management.

“The way I understand it so far is that we are sort of the eyes and ears for ideas we could take to the Credit Union board, but a big part is also promoting the Credit Union,” McMillen said.

LGFCU serves North Carolina’s local government employees, elected and appointed officials, volunteers and their families.

“I agree with the things they do,” McMillen said. “This is me giving back to them.”
