Heroin seized in ‘significant’ arrest
The Vance County Sheriff’s Office vice and narcotics unit took 239 bindle-wrapping doses of heroin along with other evidence Friday during a drug trafficking investigation against a Henderson man.
According to sheriff’s office reports, narcotics detectives arrested James Cordell Bullock, 25, at his 2490 N.C. 39 North home. There they found firearms, counterfeit $20 bills, cash and other items used in the trade of illegal drugs.
“This was a significant arrest,” Sheriff Peter White said. “This is an ongoing investigation.”
The heroin seized had an estimated street value of nealry $2,400. The marijuana value was about $20 for just more than one gram.
Bullock was jailed on a $250,000 bond pending a hearing scheduled for March 4 in Vance County District Court — rescheduled from a March 11 date, according to court records.
Narcotics unit deputies obtained a warrant signed by Magistrate Judge Henry Gupton to search Bullock’s home. To establish cause for the search, a lead detective stated that deputies received a tip about drug activity there.
A person referred to as a confidential informant told deputies about people coming and going from the home, staying only a short while. Deputies conducted surveillance operations, and they sent someone to make an observed, controlled drug purchase.
Cash used and the drug purchase obtained became part of the collection of evidence for the case against Bullock.
During the service of the search warrant, detectives seized 239 bindle wrappings of heroin and two small baggies of marijuana.
They also rounded up six counterfeit $20 bills, each with the same serial number as copies of one original, according to deputy reports. They also found $162 in cash.
A pistol-grip shotgun and two handguns with ammunition clips and shells also were seized along with a digital scale and a mirror with heroin residue on it, according to deputy reports.
The total measure of heroin by volume in the case came to more than four grams, according to arrest reports.
Bullock faces charges of heroin trafficking, having heroin for sale, keeping a dwelling for illegal drug trafficking, having marijuana, having items for possible drug uses, resisting officers and having counterfeit currency.
