Vacant house fire under investigation
City and county firefighters responded to 415 Bobbitt St., Henderson, for an early morning house fire Friday that is under investigation as possible arson.
Vance County Sheriff’s Office deputies also responded, and a law enforcement incident report notes the call at about 2 a.m. came to responders by a neighbor.
Vance County Fire Chief Harold Henrich declined comment on whether the fire was suspicious other that to indicate an ongoing investigation is taking place into what caused the fire.
“It is under investigation,” Henrich said. “It was a vacant house.”
The sheriff’s office report indicated the incident occurred because of “setting fire to the house.” Damage was estimated at $3,000, according to the report. Henrich said his estimate of damage to the stick-built home at up to $30,000.
The Vance County tax records note the property under the ownership of D&W Properties with a total assessed value of $16,384.
