The Vance County Sheriff’s Office is looking for a woman believed to have stolen North Carolina lottery tickets.

Deputies identified a white female shown on surveillance video as the suspect from a convenience store on North Garnett Street. The value of the tickets taken, had they been bought, is $75, according to Lt. Joseph Ferguson.

The incident took place July 6 shortly after 5 p.m.

Deputies say the woman portrayed not remembering her personal identification number for her debit card when attempting to buy the tickets, then went to her van and never returned. The vehicle is a tan or light-colored van, and may have had three small children inside, according to Ferguson.

According to Ferguson, the lottery tickets were redeemed at a store in the Vicksboro area of Warren County less than 20 minutes later.

Any help in identifying the suspect can be done by calling the sheriff’s office at (252) 738-2200, or visiting the tips area of the website at vancesheriff.org.
