Educators’ breakfast registration ongoing

Apr. 29, 2013 @ 05:06 PM

The sixth annual floating breakfast honoring educators in Vance County is currently taking registrations.

The Vance County Public Schools Foundation will host the event on Friday, June 7, at the Vance County Schools Administrative Services Center on Graham Avenue.

Each year, the foundation hosts the event so that others can honor educators who have made a difference. The foundation encourages anyone wishing to honor an educator who has impacted their child, or themselves, to purchase a ticket for them. Those who have gone beyond the call of duty are often feted.

Tickets are $15. Once purchased and registered, the foundation will send an invitation letting the educator know they’ve been selected and honored. Donations, without designation, are also welcome.

Tickets are tax deductible and proceeds will support initiatives such as teacher mini-grants, financial rewards for teaching excellence and programs to help recruit and retain teachers, according to the foundation.

The breakfast runs from 7:30 a.m. to 9 a.m., with those selected free to drop in at any time.

More information on the event is available from George Fowler, the executive director of the foundation, via email at or by telephone at (252) 492-2127, ext. 2105.
