Motorcyclist hospitalized following crash
A crash on Warrenton Road involving a motorcycle and a car sent the biker to a hospital unconscious but alive Wednesday evening.
Victor Kearney of Henderson, riding a Suzuki sport bike, crashed into an older-model Pontiac Bonneville driven by Nannie Hargrove of Henderson. Late Thursday afternoon, a Duke University Medical Center spokeswoman said Kearney’s condition remained “critical.”
Trooper Bradley Edwards said the collision occurred when Hargrove drove forward out of a driveway at 4109 Warrenton Road to turn left. The crash was about 250 feet from Oak Hill Loop Road.
Edwards said he did not believe the motorcycle speed was a factor in the crash, and there was no indication of alcohol use being a factor.
“She pulled out in front of the motorcycle,” Edwards said. “It was a failure to yield on the part of the Pontiac.”
Edwards said emergency personnel reported to him that Kearney was unconscious but still alive when leaving the scene.
Troopers responded to the scene, along with the Vance County rescue responders and sheriff’s deputies.
