Candidates to gather in Granville
OXFORD — Candidates for municipal offices in Granville County will have their say at a candidates’ forum on Tuesday.
Sponsored by the Granville County Chamber of Commerce’s Sunrise Forum, the Granville County Human Relations Commission and the League of Women Voters Unit of Granville County, the forum will be held at the Granville County Convention and Expo Center.
Doors open about 6, presentations begin at 7. All 38 candidates who filed for the 2013 municipal election were invited to participate.
“We’re getting a good response,” said Ginny Currin, the chamber’s executive director. “It’s important for people to hear where their candidates stand.”
Candidates will be allotted three minutes each to give a summary of their campaign platforms. Their presentations will be followed by a question-and-answer period in which the public will be invited to direct questions to the candidates.
Three mayoral races are unopposed.
