A local towing business drove home from the 2013 N.C. Tow Truck and Trade Show with several first place titles and bragging rights.

The annual tow show was held Sept. 7 at Piedmont Triad Farmers Market in Colfax, Va.

Trucks from Fred’s Towing & Transport of Henderson placed first in two divisions and in one driving competition.

“They have a tow show every year but this is the first year we put the trucks in it,” said Karrie O’Neal, of Fred’s Towing.

Although Fred’s Towing was new to the show, the company’s trucks placed first in the Large Tandem Axle Hydraulic Tow Truck 2009 and older division, and the Large Tandem Axle Hydraulic Tow Truck 2010-2013 division.

A 2007 Kenworth T800 truck, with driver Fred Fogg Jr., placed first out of 10 entries in the 2009 and older division.

A 2013 Kenworth T800 truck, with driver Bill Rainey, placed first out of five entries in the 2010-2013.

Rainey also placed first in the heavy duty driving competition, which included seven other entries.

Charles Pleasants received second place in the small duty driving competition, which included 10 other entries.
