Brothers jailed by Granville deputies
Granville deputies arrested two brothers over the weekend on charges of multiple armed robberies sheriff’s office investigators said took place between July 7 and Aug. 2.
Granville County Sheriff’s Office Investigator Doug McFee confirmed Johnnie Anthony Manson, Jr., 21, and his brother Shaquan Dondrel Manson, 18, were part of a series of recent armed robberies in the area.
They are charged with three counts each of armed robbery and seven counts each of kidnapping in addition to assault, shooting into occupied property, vehicle larceny and possession of stolen property counts.
According to McFee, the charges stem from robbery incidents that occurred at Bowen’s Mini Mart, Moore’s Grocery and Berea Mini Mart.
The investigation remains open and active.
Shaquan Manson, of 107 Old Baker St., Oxford, remained jailed on Thursday on $800,000 bond that includes an additional Person County charge of carrying a concealed firearm.
Johnnie Manson, also of 107 Old Baker St., Oxford, remained jailed on $650,000 bond. Both are scheduled to appear in Granville County District Court on Wednesday.
Johnnie Manson carries past convictions on two cases of breaking and entering and a larceny charge stemming from incidents in 2009 and 2011. According to past arrest records, the convictions were consolidated from eight felony theft-related charges.
He was released from state prison in May 2012 after serving a 10-month sentence.
Shaquan Manson was arrested Sept. 5 on a charge of disorderly conduct by fighting.
