Shots fired outside Vance courthouse

Gunshots were fired outside the Vance County Courthouse on Church Street Tuesday around noon, but no injuries were reported.

Lt. Chris Ball of the Henderson Police Department said there are no victims at this time and no suspects have been taken into custody.

The suspects were operating a green Chevrolet Prizm and a green Jeep.

Ball said the investigation in ongoing.

Bianca Terry and two friends, who were standing outside the courthouse, said they witnessed a fight between two men escalate into gunfire.

She said one man punched the other, who responding by pulling his gun and shooting at least five or six shots.

“It was scary,” she said. “It was coming toward us.”

Witnesses said the man being shot at escaped on foot without any serious injuries.
