WARRENTON — Warren County has appointed a new tax administrator.

Commissioners approved the appointment during Monday’s regularly scheduled session. Starlin Beatty has a two-year term with annual salary of $69,500 and a travel reimbursement allocation of up to $1,500.

Beaty, currently the tax assessor for Halifax County, starts May 16.

The position had been filled on an interim basis by Bonnie Andrews since July 2012. Commissioners voted not to renew the appointment of Eddie Mitchum, who had filled the position during the preceding six years.

The commissioners also appointed Robert Hines of Durham as information technology administrator at an annual salary of $47,000 with a start date of April 16.

The board reappointed Oscar Long “Butch” Meek, Russell C. King, Joel W. Febel and Lawrence R. Carver to the Board of Equalization and Review. Each is reappointed for a one-year term expiring in March 2014.

The commissioners also appointed Joseph Armstrong, Jr. to the Buck Springs Development Project Committee.

At the request of Macon Robertson, director of public utilities, the commissioners approved a change order to the Water & Sewer District III, Phase III System Improvements project to add water main sections at an additional cost of $144,751. They also approved a revised inspection plan to facilitate the change order, with a revised resident inspection budget of $162,768. Both changes will be paid from the project budget.

Commissioners took no actions after returning from a closed session.
