House fire under investigation
A house fire on Julia Avenue late Wednesday is under investigation following a joint response by Vance County and Henderson fire department crews to douse it at around midnight.
Vance County Fire Chief Harold Henrich said the call to the fire at 2035 Julia Ave., near the city limits, came in at 11:50 p.m., and crews arrived minutes later to knock it down.
“We had it under control in about 10 minutes,” Henrich said.
A Vance County Sheriff’s Office report noted the incident as a suspicious fire, but Henrich said he would not characterize the incident except to say that it is under further investigation.
There were no injuries, and according to Henrich, no report notation referring to persons living there at the time of the blaze.
A Wake Forest woman is noted in the Vance County deputy’s report as the victim of property loss that Henrich estimated to be at about $15,000 to $20,000 to the structure and no content damage noted.
A neighbor living in the 2000 block of Julia Avenue reported the fire.
In addition to Henderson and Vance fire department crews, volunteer firefighters with the Bearpond department, plus Vance Rescue and Vance County EMS responded to the scene.
