Third suspect linked to armed robberies
Michael Anthony Harris Jr. has been arrested and charged with armed robbery, Granville County Sheriff Brindell Wilkins said Monday.
Harris was taken into custody last Wednesday. He also faces charges of kidnapping, vehicle larceny, possession of a stolen vehicle and firing a weapon into occupied property in Granville County.
Harris, 33, is in jail on $500,000 bond. Last week, brothers Johnnie and Shaquan Manson were jailed in connection to a string of armed robberies in the county.
Wilkins said the investigation has widened to Person County and into Virginia’s Mecklenburg County. Mecklenburg law enforcement is expected to visit Granville locations targeted between July 7 and Aug. 2, including Bowen’s Mini Mart, Moore’s Grocery and Berea Mini Mart.
“We have a link to them in another two or three incidents there,” Wilkins said. “It’s still under investigation, and definitely there are more charges pending. We are going to have an effort here with Mecklenburg County.”
Wilkins said Vance County is not linked to the probe at this time.
Johnnie Manson and Shaquan Manson are each charged with three counts of armed robbery and seven counts each of kidnapping in addition to assault, shooting into occupied property, vehicle larceny and possession of stolen property counts.
Shaquan Manson remained jailed on $800,000 bond and Johnnie Manson on $650,000 bond.
