OXFORD — The Granville County Chamber of Commerce has lined up impressive entertainment for its 2013 Alive After Five series.

Three events have been scheduled to mark the 10th year in which the chamber brings these community celebrations to the area.

The series will open on May 23 in Oxford with the Craig Woolard Band. Termed “the hottest band this side of the Mississippi,” the Craig Woolard Band performs throughout the southeast.

A former member of The Embers, singer-entertainer Woolard uses his personality, energy and voice to reach his audiences. Backed up by experienced musicians, he offers a variety of musical styles.

On Aug. 8, the Carolina Breakers make a stop in Creedmoor. The high-energy group features four lead vocalists with selections from Motown, funk, R&B and disco.

The final event of the series will take place on Sept. 19 in Oxford when the chamber will present the North Tower Band, a fixture in the South for over 30 years. They will entertain with oldies, beach and Top 40 hits from a wide-ranging repertoire.

The Alive After Five events are held Thursday evenings, from 5:30 until 8:30 p.m.

The popularity of the Granville chamber’s events has increased over the years, attracting visitors from Granville and nearby counties as well as southside Virginia communities.

The chamber is accepting various levels of sponsorships. More information is available from the chamber at (919) 693-6125 or by email at ginnie@granville-chamber.com.
