Two suspects sought in shooting death
Ahmend Shahit, a 55-year-old working at a convenience store, was shot to death Monday evening, and Henderson police are searching for two suspects.
Shahit, of 1259 Nicholas Street in Henderson, was discovered suffering from a gunshot wound when police arrived at the BP station and convenience store on Raleigh Road. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
Chief Marcus Barrow of the Henderson Police Department confirmed the two suspects are described as black males, approximately 5-foot-4 and 5-foot-8 tall. Each was believed to have left the store on foot.
The suspects, according to police, had entered the store and demanded cash.
Police are working with the State Bureau of Investigation and are requesting information from the community. Tips can be given anonymously to Crime Stoppers at (252) 492-1925. Crime Stoppers can pay a reward up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest and conviction of individuals involved in criminal activity, with the person reporting the tip remaining anonymous throughout the process.
