The Waffle House on Andrews Avenue was robbed at gunpoint twice in less than one week.

Several other area businesses also have been hit in a recent uptick in armed robberies.

The first at the restaurant at 942 W. Andrews Ave., Henderson, occurred March 13 at 3:08 a.m., and the second incident happened five days later on March 18 at 12:14 a.m.

No one was injured during either incident.

Three other businesses in Henderson have reported armed robbery incidents this month. On March 1, armed robbery was reported at Boost Mobile, 893-B S. Beckford Drive. Then another on March 7 at Game Stop, 390 N. Cooper Drive, and finally one more happened on March 11 at Raleigh Road Convenience Mart, 2406 Raleigh Road.

The Henderson Police Department is currently investigating both incidents of armed robbery occurring at the Waffle House, but Lt. Alan Hedgepeth said no suspects have been taken into custody.

In an email, Hedgepeth wrote the police department is looking at similarities between the incidents at the Waffle House and have not ruled out the possibility that both robberies involve the same individual.

The suspect in the first event is described as a black male approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall with short curly hair. At the time of the robbery, he was wearing a black sweat shirt and gray sweat pants.

The suspect in the second event is described as a black male, wearing gray sweat pants and red shoes.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Henderson Police Department Investigation Division at (252) 431-6062, Detective A. D. Simmons at (252) 430-4234 or Crime Stoppers at (252) 492-1925.
