Cases involving rape defendants next up April 29
Two unrelated cases, each involving rape charges, were frozen at their respective settings of the Case Management System in Vance County Superior Court on Tuesday.
Each is now scheduled for April 29.
Quenton Talley of Norlina is charged with first-degree rape, kidnapping and assault stemming from an Oct. 28 incident.
According to court records, an adult female is also identified as the victim in two prior cases naming Talley on charges of assault, kidnapping, assault with a deadly weapon and making threats
Nick Bagshawe, defense attorney for Talley, said the psychological evaluation ordered by the defense was completed but the court did not make a finding on Talley’s ability to stand trial.
James Boyd also appeared in court Tuesday. He is charged with first-degree rape and kidnapping in a July 28 incident that sent a 22-year-old woman to the hospital.
In another unrelated case, Joey Kearney, who is facing a first-degree murder charge, was scheduled to appear Tuesday. Allison Capps, the assistant district attorney, said he will be in court Thursday.
Kearney, 16, is charged with first-degree murder and robbery in the December shooting death of Roger Dell Tant.
He also faces charges of first-degree murder, burglary and kidnapping in Franklin County.
