Woman charged with filing a false report
A Henderson woman who reported a breaking and entering was charged with making a false report to police.
Jaquesha Cooper, 23, 934 Bridges St., was arrested July 24 on one count of filing a false report and one count of obtaining property by false pretenses.
Cooper filed a report with the Henderson Police Department on June 17 alleging a Panasonic television was stolen during a breaking and entering to her residence.
At the time of the breaking and entering, the television was being rented from Rent-A-Center of Henderson.
Henderson Police — along with the North Carolina Law Enforcement Agency — executed a search warrant at 934 Bridges St. on July 12 and located the television that had been reported stolen inside the residence.
Cooper was released after posting a $1,000 secure bond. A preliminary hearing has been scheduled in Vance County District Court on Aug. 11.
