None of the nine students or the driver of a Vance County Schools bus were injured in a Wednesday incident that left power lines on the bus.
The Southern Vance High students were headed home on Raleigh Road when the bus came into contact with a power line pushed down by a fallen tree.
Terri Hedrick, the public information officer for Vance schools, said that it may have been the high winds that created the problem.
“A tree had fallen and knocked a power line low,” Hedrick said. “The driver saw it and applied the brakes, but the line hit the top of the bus.”
Damage to the bus was estimated at $300.
“The damage has already been fixed,” Hedrick said.
