Library conducting survey for five-year plan

Perry Memorial Library wants to know what users and people who do not use the library think.

As part of an initiative to develop a five-year plan, the library staff is conducting a community survey. It can be accessed online at surveymonkey.com/s/perry-library.

A link will also be added to the library website in the near future.

Copies of the survey are available in the library. That version will provide responses from people who are already using the library, said Library Director Jay Stephens.

“But we’d like to hear from people who aren’t regular users. Why not? Is it what we don’t have? Is it the hours? That will help us in our plan.”

The library received a $20,000 Library Services and Technology Act Grant from the State Library of North Carolina to help develop the plan.

“We’ve already obtained the services of a library consultant to assist us with the survey and the plan,” Stephens said.

A previous five-year plan has expired, he explained. The new plan will guide development over the next few years.

The survey, both the online version and the paper version in the library, will be available through the end of January.
