Three armed suspects escaped police and are being sought in connection to a robbery at the Waffle House on Andrews Avenue early Monday morning.

No injuries were reported in the incident and police were yet to make an arrest as of early Monday evening.

The suspects escaped from a vehicle stop on Mill Street in Henderson, fleeing on foot. Lt. Alan Hedgepeth confirmed a handgun was recovered, but the suspects escaped an established perimeter and tracking by police canines.

The suspects are described as wearing dark clothing at the time of the robbery early Monday morning.

In addition to taking an undetermined amount of money from the restaurant, the suspects are also accused of robbing a customer in the parking lot. The customer’s wallet was later recovered.

Police are also probing three other incidents from the weekend, including two armed robberies.

A clerk at the New Dixie Mart on Dabney Drive told police of an armed robbery just before 11 Friday night. An undisclosed amount of money was taken by two suspects.

The suspects were described as black males, the first about 6-foot tall and slender, the second wearing some type of baseball cap. Both fled on foot.

A second armed robbery probed by police happened just before 5 early Saturday morning at Cruizers on Dabney Drive.

Hedgepeth confirmed a store employee reported two black males entered the business with firearms and took an undisclosed amount of money. Both fled on foot.

The similarities of the robberies less than six hours apart are a part of the police investigation.

Police are also investigating a disturbance in the 200 block of Zollicoffer Avenue early Saturday morning, just after midnight. According to Hedgepeth, Leonard Devon Allen, 29 and of 1000 Foster Road in Henderson, was found with a gunshot wound.

Allen was alert and conscious and refused cooperation with officers, according to Hedgepeth. Allen was transported to Maria Parham Medical Center for treatment.

No suspect descriptions were available and no arrests had been made as of Monday evening.

Police are seeking anyone with information to relay it to police or to Crime Stoppers at (252) 492-1925. Crime Stoppers can pay rewards of up to $2,000 for information leading to an arrest.
