Motorcyclist injured in Warrenton Road crash in Vance County
Emergency responders rushed a motorcycle driver from the scene of a crash with a car Wednesday night on Warrenton Road.
State troopers reached the scene after Vance County rescue personnel and deputies closed traffic in both directions about 6:30 p.m. The ambulance left with the motorcyclist inside about 6:45.
Trooper Bradley Edwards said a helicopter out of the Raleigh area had been deployed to pick up the injured motorcycle driver from a nearby hospital.
Three individuals near the brown older-model Pontiac Bonneville spoke with arriving troopers. A woman identified herself as the driver of the car.
The Pontiac sustained significant damage to the driver's side door area, rendering it unusable. The car's front end was partially off the roadway, angled toward the direction of Warrenton in front of 4109 Warrenton Road, several miles past Northern Vance High School, but still within Vance County.
The black and gray Suzuki V-Strom series sport motorcycle landed with its front wheel on the dividing stripe in middle of the roadway, with debris scattered.
Troopers began gathering information for their report at about 7 p.m.
