Second arrest made in Monday homicide
Police made a second arrest in Monday’s killing of a 55-year-old man.
Marvin Hargrove Jr., 25, 123 S. Cooper Drive, Henderson, was arrested Thursday on a charge of first-degree murder stemming from the shooting death of Ahmed Shahit on Monday night at the BP station at 615 Raleigh Road in Henderson.
He was also charged with one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of second-degree kidnapping.
Lt. Alan Hedgepeth said Hargrove turned himself in to officers at the Henderson Police Department.
Hargrove was jailed in Vance County without bond pending a court hearing in Vance County District Court on March 31.
Henderson Police Department worked with State Bureau of Investigation in this matter.
Officers arrested 18-year-old Daiquan Jameek Waddell on Wednesday in connection with this homicide and four armed robberies this month.
Waddell was charged with one count of first-degree murder, one count of robbery with a dangerous weapon and one count of second-degree kidnapping.
He was jailed in Vance County without bond pending a preliminary hearing in Vance County District Court on April 21.
Waddell has also been charged with three counts of robbery with a dangerous weapon relating to the robbery reported at the Raleigh Road Convenient Mart on March 11 and two robberies reported at the Waffle House, 942 W. Andrews Avenue, Henderson, on March 13 and 18.
He was detained after a multi-jurisdictional investigation involving the Henderson Police Department, Vance County Sheriff’s Department and the North Carolina State Bureau of Investigation.
